This is somewhere between deeply irresponsible and a lie.
HMRC will be able to "seize money" from people who owe tax, aren't disputing it, but just fail to pay. That's people who cause the rest of us to pay more tax.
Meghan's PR team are doing a spiffing job @davidyelland
There have been no small boats crossing for the last eleven days. I wonder why the main stream media are not reporting this? Perhaps @BBCNews @itvnews @Channel4News @GBNEWS could let us know? Maybe it doesn't fit their agenda?

One of the things that really frustrates people is that politicians are never really held accountable. The Covid Inquiry has just published a damning report about the way Covid was handled in care homes. Will Johnson and/or Hancock be held accountable? I doubt it.

A man suddenly approaches a group of street musicians and asks, “Can I play with you? I’ve got my pan flute.” When they ask what he wants to play, he chooses Vivaldi’s Winter from "The Four Seasons"—one of the most difficult pieces there is.
And then he leaves everyone around him in awe. On the pan flute, Michel Tirabosco delivers an incredibly skillful performance, with remarkable breath control and emotion. Even though this was a planned flash-mob-style setup, the real talent of the musicians and the pure joy they bring still move people deeply.
A beautiful moment of music, connection, and limitless passion.
Dear @bbcnickrobinson could you please stop referring to economic geniuses as "experts"? An expert is correct far more often than they are wrong. These "experts" have been wrong on economic growth/inflation every month this year, so that aren't experts, are they? @BBCr4today

When I met Angela Rayner to campaign for change to overly aggressive council tax debt collection, with its unprecedented rapid escalation to balliffs, she nodded like most politicians do.
I explained it was destructive for individuals, councils and the economy. She listened more then said she'd change it. I was sceptical. Yet a consultation was launched within weeks and delightfully the change announced within 18mths (its in place from next April) - bullet train pace for politics.
I've a rule that if I campaign for a politician (of any party) to do something, and they do it, I say thank you. Its important to recognise it. So thank you so much Angela Rayner for listening and more importantly acting. The changes coming are a great start.
I promised we'd make council tax fairer, and I’m getting on with the job.
Too many working people have seen council tax debt spiral before they had the chance to get help.
That's why we're introducing more time to pay, clearer warnings if you miss a payment and more support from councils.
Thanks to @MartinSLewis and @mmhpi for their tireless campaigning to make this change happen.
Here's everything you need to know ⬇️
VERY disappointed at @BBCMOTD coverage of the Liverpool v. City game. The lawyers had obviously advised them not to say anything controversial, so it was all about how Man City players had coped with the situation. They even agreed with the two yellows. What?
It's hard enough playing the cheats with three top players being out injured, but when you get a player sent off for a very dubious second of two dubious yellow cards, it's near impossible. Enjoy it while you can @ManCity you'll be in the Lancashire Sunday League soon.

A message to all sane Republicans: He pardoned 1,600 violent criminals. You said nothing. He bulldozed the East Wing. You said nothing. He interfered with the release of the Epstein files. You said nothing. He took over the Kennedy Center and renamed it after himself. You said nothing. He accepted a $400 million airplane as a personal gift. You said nothing. He threatened Canada, Cuba, Denmark, Greenland, Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil. You said nothing. He tariffed just about everyone but Russia, causing inflation and instability worldwide. You said nothing. He attacked a nation during mediated negotiations. You said nothing. His ill-conceived war killed 175 children on day one. You said nothing. He alienated and insulted our allies. You said nothing. His ICE Army terrorized and murdered U.S. citizens. You said nothing. He committed murder on the high seas. You said nothing. He co-opted the Justice Department and directed it to prosecute his political enemies. You said nothing. It's time to start talking!!!
It's long overdue!!!!

Kemi Badenoch just promised full employment, tax cuts (but mainly for the rich tbf) a bigger budget for the police and army, increase prison spaces, protect the triple lock and lower student loan payments.
Pointing out that the Tories did the opposite of this the last time they were in power would be cynical in the extreme.
Anyone looking on Google Maps at the state of Gaza after bombing by Israel can only ask themselves one question: was it deliberate or not? Obliteration on that scale is very hard to justify.
Dear @andyburnham please rename it Double Lock Plus.

That was a big speech that dared to make sense of what’s gone wrong and what’s required to put it right.A Burnham has promised the biggest change in 40 years..If he wins the next election he’ll deliver it.But evidently he feels he must win an election before the biggest changes.
Absolutely brilliant speech from @andyburnham at Conference today. I couldn't fault it; it addressed everything that has gone wrong with this country since 1979 and the failed Thatcherite neoliberal experiment. The only people who gained were the rich. Onwards and leftwards.
