It’s #FeatureFriday! ⛳ This week, we’re celebrating 100 years of Frederick Douglass Golf Course in Indianapolis! Founded in 1926, what began as just five holes—with low-mowed grass and tomato cans serving as cups—eventually grew into the nine-hole facility that has become an important part of Indianapolis golf history. Over the last century, Frederick Douglass has welcomed everyone from Joe Louis to a young Tiger Woods, while continuing to serve generations of golfers in the community. Today, it is also home to a First Tee – Indiana program, introducing young people to the game while teaching valuable life skills along the way. From humble beginnings to a century of golf, community and opportunity, here’s to the next 100 years at Frederick Douglass!

It's Thank a Superintendent Day! Today, we recognize the golf course superintendents who make golf in Indiana possible. From daily play to championship conditions, their work, care, and commitment sustain the game all year long. Less Than 24 Hours Left to Leave Your Legacy at the Pete & Alice Dye Indiana Golf Center Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we've raised $80,000 toward our $100,000 Brick Campaign Goal—with just $20,000 to go before the campaign closes on July 15. Every engraved brick becomes a permanent part of the Pete & Alice Dye Indiana Golf Center, honoring the people, families, and organizations that have helped shape the game of golf in Indiana for generations. Whether you're recognizing a loved one, celebrating a special memory, or creating your own lasting legacy, this is your final opportunity to be part of this historic campaign. Help us cross the finish line and reach our goal. Together, we're building a place that will inspire golfers and positively impact youth across Indiana for generations to come. Brick Campaign Ends Tomorrow — July 15. hubs.ly/Q04pwlfv0

Last week, IGCSA board members welcomed the GCSAA National Board to Brickyard Crossing for a roundtable focused on membership needs, future direction for GCSAA, and how IGCSA can best support that vision. It was a productive and meaningful conversation, and we are grateful for the time with the GCSAA National Board and staff. Chad Allen also had the honor of signing the GCSAA flag, which will be signed by all chapters in celebration of the association’s 100th anniversary. In addition, IGCSA is proud to support the centennial by donating a plaque for the GCSAA Centennial Plaza.

Esther Etherington’s journey in golf is one of resilience, positivity, and purpose. After overcoming significant challenges throughout her life—including being born at 26 weeks, being blind in her right eye, and having a lung removed at age five—Esther found a passion for golf and used it to inspire those around her. Her leadership and impact in her local community helped earn her recognition as a 2022 First Tee Scholar, and this summer, she will continue her journey in the game as an intern at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club through the USGA Pathways Launch program. Announced last September, Pathways Launch is a paid internship program for undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate leadership, growth, and an interest in working in golf or sports. In addition to their summer placements across the golf industry, interns will also attend the U.S. Women’s Open from June 4–7 for career development programming and networking opportunities.

Have you met our 2026 IGA–PGA intern class on the course yet this summer? These interns are an essential part of every Indiana Golf amateur and professional event. They support our team from the first tee time to the final score posting—setting up, starting groups, managing scoring, and assisting with rules and operations throughout the day. Our tournaments would not run as smoothly without their dedication and professionalism, and we are grateful to have such a strong team this season. When you see them at your next event, please take a moment to say hello and thank them for their hard work.
