Did you know? that Sanskrit epic Mahabharata was translated to Persian under patronage of Mughal Emperor Akbar !
The #Razmnama or The #Book of War is the #Persian translation of one of the great #Hindu epics of #India, the #Mahabharata .
The #Mughal emperor #Akbar took a personal interest in the translation project and a lavishly illustrated copy was prepared for his personal use.
Out of the three copies made, the three-volume Razmnama in the #Birla Academy of #Art and Culture, #Kolkata is the only copy that is complete with 81 #miniatures that bear the name of the scribe and the date of completion, 1605.
The #paintings combine the finest elements of the Mughal court style with the narrative style of #storytelling

Nazm By Late Prof Aale Ahmed 'Suroor'

Professor at AMU Aligarh
Born in Badaun ,1911 - Died in Delhi 2002)
Yeh baam o dar, yeh charaagh, yeh qumqumo'n ki qataar
Sipaahe nur siyaahi se barsar e paikar
Yeh zard chehre pe surkhi, fasurda nazro'n mein rang
Bujhe bujhe se dilo'n ko ujlaati hai umang
Yeh leher leher, yeh raunaq, yeh humhuma, yeh hayaat
Jagaaye jaise chaman ko naseem e subh ki baat
Gazab hai laila e shab ka singhaar aaj ki raat
Nikhar rahi hai uroos e bahaar aaj ki raat
Hazaar jung ke saaye, hazaar qahat ke bhoot
Hazaar sharr ke dalail , hazaar gham ke suboot
Hazaar zakhmo'n ki teese'n, hazaar daagho'n ke dard
Hazaar khushk labo'n par, hazaar naala e sard
Hazaar khwaab o haqeeqat ki kashmakash ka aalam
Hazaar khoon e tamanna ki mehfilo'n ka maatam
Hazaaron saal ke dukh dard mein nahaaye huye
Hazaaron aarzuo'n ki chita jalaaye huye
Khiza'n naseeb bahaaron ke naaz uthaaye huye
Shikast o fatah ke kitne fareb khaaye huye
Inn aandhiyo'n mein bashar muskura tau sakte hain
Siyaah raat mein shamma jala tau sakte hain

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Karnataka @ArshadRizwan alleges that tests on petrol samples from seven Karnataka districts found ethanol levels above 20%, with IOCL and HPCL samples recording 31.2% and 30.5%. Calling it a breach of public trust, he has demanded action against oil companies, an E20 compensation fund for consumers affected by reduced mileage and vehicle damage and mandatory disclosure of ethanol content at petrol pumps.

Indian-American Muslim politician Nabeela Syed, 27, has won Illinois’ 26th State Senate District, defeating Republican Darby Hills with approximately 57% of the vote.
A vocal critic of Israel, Syed has described Israel’s war on Gaza as a genocide and opposed US support for Israel.
Her victory comes despite criticism from pro-Israel media outlets over her stance on Palestine. In 2022, she became the youngest woman elected to the Illinois General Assembly.

I woke up and saw that Abdulrahman El-Sayed had won. For one of the few times in my life I actually cried from happiness. It’s not just that a Muslim American who stood up against our mindless support for an apartheid state and a genocidal war still won. It’s that so many Americans said no to the awful racism and bigotry stoked to unprecedented intensity by Republicans in Texas, Michigan and nationally.

What do kufr (disbelief/skepticism) and imaan (faith/conviction) truly represent when viewed through the philosophical lens of classical Urdu poetry?
In this episode of the Radio Urdu Podcast, Babar Imam and Afeef Seraj break down the semantic evolution, etymological roots, and profound literary tensions of kufr-o-imaan. Far from rigid theological constructs, Urdu Ghazal reimagines Kufr and Imaan as dynamic metaphors that are always opposed to each other but require each other for their own existence.
We also trace the possible biographical root behind Mirza Ghalib’s iconic couplet: “Imaan mujhe roke hai jo kheenche hai mujhe kufr…”—exploring how 19th-century Delhi's shifting socio-political landscape shaped his poetic crisis of faith and tradition.
📜 Couplets Discussed:
1. Mirza Ghalib
Imaan mujhe roke hai jo kheenche hai mujhe kufr
Kaaba mere peeche hai kaleesa mere aage
----------
2. Pandit Daya Shankar Naseem Lakhnavi
Laaye us but ko iltija kar ke
Kufr toota khuda khuda kar ke
---------
3. Dagh Dehlvi
Dekha hai but-kade mein jo ai shaikh kuchh na poochh
Imaan ki to yeh hai keh imaan to gaya
----------
4. Bedam Shah Warsi
Kahan imaan kis ka kufr aur dair-o-haram kaise
Tere hote hue ai jaan khayal-e-do-jahan kyon ho
------------
5. Mirza Ghalib
Hum muwahhid hain hamara kesh hai tark-e-rusoom
Millatein jab mit gayin ajza-e-imaan ho gayin
-----------
6. Mirza Muhammad Rafi Sauda
Hua jab kufr saabit hai yeh tamgha-e-musalmani
Na tooti shaikh se zunnaar-e-tasbeeh-e-sulaimani

Islamic architecture played a crucial role in shaping the European Renaissance, as Diana Darke demonstrates in her book
Stealing from the Saracens: How Islamic Architecture Shaped Europe and Islamesque.
Darke argues that many hallmarks of European medieval and Renaissance architecture—such as pointed arches, ribbed vaults, rose windows, double domes, and intricate stone tracery—can be directly traced back to innovations from the Islamic world, which were transmitted into Europe through regions like Al-Andalus (Muslim Spain), Sicily, and trading cities such as Venice and Amalfi.
images from Mosque- cathedral of Cordoba, Granada Spain
pointed arches, ribbed vaults and rose windows were first realized in places such as the Great Mosque of Córdoba and Syrian churches, before being adopted into European cathedrals.
Great Mosque of Córdoba (Mezquita), was originally built in 784–786 CE under the patronage of the Umayyad ruler ʿAbd al-Rahman I, the founder of the Islamic Emirate of Córdoba. The building underwent several expansions in the 9th and 10th centuries by successive rulers, making it one of the largest and most influential mosques in the Islamic world.
