Regarding the Israeli Air Force keeping its F-35s at a 90% readiness rate vs USAF at 50%- Israel didn’t just buy the jets, but built a massive logistical complex for keeping them maintained and in service, including making a lot of their own components. When people talk about the strengths of the Israeli Air Force, they talk about planes, pilot training, electronic warfare, but what most people miss are the absolute lions that are humble Israeli aircraft mechanic and ordnancemen. In the six day war, Israeli aircraft could land and be refueled and rearmed ready to get back in the fight in eight minutes. In the Yom Kippur war, Israeli aircraft had double the readiness rate of their Arab enemies, despite MiGs being much easier jets to service and maintain.

I don't think it means to ruin your health by smoking and to ruin your future by holding a submarine gun. The best path is often the most boring one. To sit down and study until you have become a productive member of the society. Guns can only get you killed or in prison. Books can get you anywhere in life. Take the boring path.

If the target was a mosque instead of a Church, Reddit mods would have done everything in their power to make it national news.

Why are no media outlets mentioning the killers? What are they afraid of? In just a week: - 10+ Christians killed in Jordan 🇯🇴 - 40 Christians killed in Ethiopia 🇪🇹 And why is Pope Leo XIV silent on the killings? There are so many questions that need to be asked 🧐

Sam Altman says the single heaviest AI user on Earth, 6.5 years back, consumed about as much as the average person does now: "Six and a half years ago, the world token leader was an OpenAI employee using about 100,000 tokens a month." "And this seemed ludicrous at the time. The worldwide average per capita is like zero." "Now, the worldwide average of tokens per month, which I think tokens are the dumbest metric, but it's what we have. It's like 100,000." "And the token leader at OpenAI uses something in the hundreds of billions." "If that happens again, which I think it probably will, then in another six and a half years, the average person uses, let's say, 500 billion tokens a month." If he's right, the typical person's AI use climbs about five-million-fold over that same stretch of time, and OpenAI is already putting the capacity in place. That's the figure company boards should plan around this year. Demand on that scale changes what a sensible AI budget looks like. Sam Altman with Garry Tan at Y Combinator's Startup School 2026. Napoleon was so gifted in mathematics that he excelled in the subject from an early age. Later he said; 'To be a good general you must know mathematics,it serves to direct your thinking in a thousand circumstances.' He was helped by his prodigious memory. 'A singular thing about me is my memory,' he once boasted. 'As a boy I knew the logarithms of thirty or forty numbers. Napoleon was given permission to take maths classes earlier than the prescribed age of twelve, and soon mastered geometry, algebra and trigonometry. His weakest subject was German, which he never mastered; another weak subject, surprisingly for someone who so adored ancient history, was Latin. (He was fortunate not to be examined in Latin until after 1780, by which time it was clear that he would be going into the army or navy and not the Church).

OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman: There won't be a job apocalypse. The people who win are the ones who start careers while the ground is shaking "I don't think there's gonna be like a job apocalypse in the way that many people talk about." "You wanna be starting your career at a time of like the highest degree of change." "People with potential and drive and ideas… do relatively the best when the ground is shaking the most." "My chronic disappointment in MBA students is that they always wanna just like go do the thing that was cool like five years ago and not do the new thing." "I think this is a great time to go do the new thing." he's telling them to chase what's shaking the ground now :)

Sam Altman in June 2010, opening an iPhone 4 two days before it went on sale: "I am super, super excited. I am an admitted fanboy and proud of it." He was 25 and running Loopt, a location-sharing app for phones. 15 years later, OpenAI paid $6.5 billion for Jony Ive's startup to build a (still unreleased) device of its own.

Terence Tao: AI could let us do decades of mathematical research at a scale that was never possible before. “We prove one theorem at a time, or maybe two or three if you are efficient.” “With AI, you could take a class of 1,000 similar problems and try to solve all of them.” “You can start exploring the space of problems rather than just each problem separately.” “Right now, that could take decades and dozens of papers.” “With these tools, you could really start doing mathematics on a scale which is unprecedented.”

Such inspiration
Homeschooled in Nassau, the Bahamas, Hannah Cairo learned maths mostly from Khan Academy, finished calculus by 11 and taught herself from graduate textbooks. At 14 she joined the Berkeley Math Circle, and she later took graduate courses at UC Berkeley. In one of them, a homework problem came with an optional extra tied to the Mizohata-Takeuchi conjecture, a 40-year-old question about how overlapping waves concentrate their energy. She built a counterexample and posted it on 10 February 2025, at 17. She then applied to 10 PhD programs, and six rejected her for not having a college degree. The University of Maryland took her. She had no high school diploma. She had just disproved a 40-year-old conjecture.
