Really a golden age of retail investing that we get free access to the content Odd Lots and Compound & Friends provided this week with Alex Altman. Weve come a long way from the The McLaughlin Group

Even literally the most powerful man in human history has to punch the clock.
President Trump says he thought tonight's rally in Florida would be his last one of the cycle: "I thought this was it. I thought I could relax. 28 days of this crap in a row is a lot. It's a lot. My voice is about- operating at about 49.2%. And then they called me in Iowa and they called me in Kansas, and they said, "Sir, would it be possible to do a little rally of about 50,000 people each?" And I said, "Does it matter?" They said, "We just want to make sure that we win."

just mathematically speaking one trend that can't last forever is the largest public companies in the world growing 15-20% a year in an economy with a nominal growth rate of 3-6% (or a world with ~5% growth rates). at some point somethings gotta give

the software that people who had spent their entire lives thinking about software produced:
I miss when software felt like it was designed by people who had spent their entire lives thinking about software.

Always seemed strange to me that people assume Mag7 was the way to play AI. Aren't revolutionary technologies supposed to disrupt the established players?
What irony if AI destroyed Mag 7 moats. Craziest own goal ever or they had no choice?

Precisely why Im sympathetic to Cliff Assness contention that the US Equity Market has gotten more inefficient
I never thought about this before, how if you write a 145-page essay, you can guarantee nobody will read the whole thing and then therefore establish that nobody has the standing to criticize it.

Reddit call was absolutely fascinating. Everyone should listen to it as a bellwether for where the internet is going - AI Mode is increasingly default Google experience - AI Mode provides rich info and data in line, less incentive to leave search - AI Mose incentivizes dialog, Google wants to keep you engaged to serve more ads at each turn - Google will milk search for as much revenue as possible as they transition from a search company to a cloud service and chip company - As traffic from humans becomes more scarce this will put Google in an increasingly adversarial position to the rest of the internet - This is a massive headwind to all media type companies who are not destinations - This is a massive headwind to all content-driven go-to-market motions especially in the SMB. You have seen companies like HubSpot and Monday.com get crushed by this funnel collapse We are entering the end game - a knife fight for the remaining and dwindling volume of human traffic on the internet

Nasdaq now up only very marginally less than 10% for the year. Basically stagnant. The living will soon envy the dead

Patrick Stewart got a private tour of the museum my first boyfriend worked at. One of the interns gave him the Vulcan salute and Patrick gave him the finger back. Not exactly friendly.

I'm dont own any AI names. I'm admittedly enjoying a bit of Schadenfreude. And I think AI bull market going to take off again after midterms.
In today's newsletter, I wrote about our chat with Barclays' Alexander Altmann, and one stat that caught me by surprise. The forward PE ratio of SK Hynix? 3 bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

Lilly has hit the runaway inflection point people assumed the AI "winner" would hit.
🚨 BREAKING: Eli Lilly says U.S. obesity prescriptions grew 82% in Q3. Lilly says its medicines now account for roughly 6 out of every 10 obesity prescriptions in the U.S., and more than 7 out of every 10 injectable prescriptions. That is an enormous share of the obesity market. $LLY

I used to tell national reporters covering Fl for first time - one way to understand Florida, go to a Bears/Bucs, a Steelers/Jags or a Dolphins/Jets game and guess the home team.
I keep hearing people marvel at how many Brewers fans are in Tampa. Political analysts know: the west coast of Florida is where people from Wisconsin retire.

He is going to end up in Orlando
This is quite the story. Flavio Bolsonaro may have put his name on a decoy flight manifest from Brazil to the US, while in reality he was slipping into Argentina, from where he may now be en route to the US www1.folha.uol.com.br/poder/…
