📉 $HOOD'S CRYPTO REVENUE FELL 55% TO £90M ($120M), AND PREDICTION MARKETS OUT-EARNED IT 🎲
Crypto trading volume fell 38% from a year ago. Crypto is now 8.4% of Robinhood's revenue, down from about 21%.
Prediction markets brought in £130M ($173M).
The naive read is that retail has left crypto.
Retail hasn't left speculation. It moved to event contracts.
Same gambler, different table.
SYSTEM CHECK: $BTC is on track for its weakest October in six years, down about 4.2% for the month. "Uptober" was always a calendar, not a signal
🔐 KEYSTONE IS DESTROYING 18,835 HARDWARE WALLETS AFTER A HACKER STOLE ITS AUTHENTICITY KEY 🧨
Customer data leaked too: 25,964 buyer records, some of them meant to be deleted months ago.
The panic read: "hardware wallets are compromised, move your coins."
Keystone says seeds and keys weren't exposed. The real risk is counterfeits that now pass the "genuine device" check.
So the threat isn't your wallet. It's the next one you buy from a reseller, and the "recall" email that follows.
~80% this ends up a phishing and counterfeit problem, ~20% something worse comes out
ALT CHECK: $QNT is up about 109% in 30 days, but Monday's 18% jump came with no announcement and only about £2.2M ($3M) changing hands in its busiest hour. A thin float moves big both ways
🧭 GALAXY SAYS THE $BTC BEAR MARKET ENDED IN JUNE. "NOW IS THE TIME TO ADD AND HOLD" 📉
$BTC is back under £59,940 ($80,000), sentiment is "is crypto dead?", and Galaxy publishes a buy note.
The naive read is that a fund long $BTC would say that.
Fair. But look at what they cite. CME asset-manager longs are down 57%, fast money has left, and spot ETFs have added 87,000 BTC since the low.
That's positioning data, not vibes. They also named their invalidation: a weekly close under £57,346 ($76,540)
ALT CHECK: $LINK has DTCC, the CFTC, Swift and Citi on one stage in New York on Thursday. A speaker list isn't adoption, but that's a room most chains can't fill
🚨 AVIVA INVESTORS JUST PUT A TOKENISED SLICE OF ITS £22B ($29B) STERLING FUND ON THE $XRP LEDGER 🇬🇧
Aviva Investors has launched a tokenised share class of its Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. Ripple is the technology partner and BNY is the custodian.
The headline doing the rounds is "£22B comes to XRP."
It hasn't.
£22B is the whole fund. Aviva seeded the tokenised class with £50M ($66.7M). Across its two tokenised money market funds, it now has about £86M ($114.8M) onchain.
That's under 0.4% of the fund.
The signal is the repeat, not the size. A major UK manager came back for a sterling fund four months after the dollar one. Repeat customers are what a real adoption trend looks like.
~65% this becomes a steady RWA pipeline for XRPL, ~35% it stays a pilot sized for a press release.
👤 $BTC’S CREATOR VANISHED, AND IT KEPT RUNNING
Everyone assumes a coin needs a face and a roadmap.
Satoshi stepped back, identity never confirmed, and the network carried on without them.
Full story’s in the video.
No guru required. That’s the design.
🚨 $ALGO SAYS YOU CAN GO POST-QUANTUM WITHOUT MOVING A SINGLE ASSET 🔐
Algorand posted on Saturday that existing accounts can switch to native Falcon-1024 signing through its rekeying feature.
Same public address. No migration. No transfers.
The cynical read is that this is marketing, since every chain has a quantum plan now.
Most of those plans assume a painful migration, where every holder makes a new wallet and moves their funds. That's where real-world upgrades stall.
A path that skips the move is the actual differentiator, if people use it.
The number I'd watch is how many existing accounts actually rekey. Not how many post-quantum transactions the chain advertises.
~60% this becomes a genuine institutional selling point, ~40% it stays a feature nobody touches until there's a real quantum scare.
“How much more grievous are the consequences of anger than the causes of it.”
Marcus Aurelius
Think about the last time you snapped at someone you love.
Can you even remember what started it? A tone. A late reply. Dishes left in the sink.
Now think about what it cost. The silence afterwards. The apology that took days. The thing you said that they still remember.
The cause was tiny. The consequence wasn’t.
Anger always overcharges you.
COIN CHECK: 5.3 billion $XRP, about £5.2B ($7B) worth, has left exchanges in 30 days while whale accumulation sits at a five year low. Coins leaving exchanges isn’t the same thing as new buyers arriving
GRIND CHECK: Fridays are when I most want to “do something” before the weekend. Usually the best move is closing the app and letting Monday happen
🚨 $LINK JUST SIGNED WITH LG'S TECH ARM TO PLUG INTO KOREA'S £51B ($68B) DIGITAL ASSET MARKET 🇰🇷
LG CNS, the technology arm of LG Group, has announced a strategic partnership with Chainlink.
Chainlink's data, cross-chain and orchestration tools go into LG CNS's digital asset platform for Korean institutions. Won stablecoins are the focus.
LG CNS is also the lead contractor on the Bank of Korea's Project Hangang.
The hype read is that Chainlink now powers Korea's CBDC.
It doesn't. The deal is with LG CNS's own platform, not Hangang. There's no launch date, no named banks and no named chains.
What it does show is a pattern. OpenZeppelin this week, LG CNS now. $LINK keeps getting built into the plumbing other people build on.
Revenue only reaches the token once there's paid usage, and there isn't any yet
Fear & Greed at 48. Cap down 0.7% to £2.0T ($2.74T). $BTC, $ETH and $SOL flat on the day.
Read alone, that’s a dead week.
It’s not. Sentiment’s slid from 74 to 48 in a month on a 5% $BTC pullback. A coincident gauge cooling isn’t a trend breaking, and an alt index at 58 says rotation’s still alive.
Tomorrow’s Stat Saturday checks whether valuation agrees.
~60% consolidation, ~40% slow leak lower. Not calling either yet
🚨 $LINK IS NOW BUILT INTO THE DEVELOPER TOOLS MOST OF CRYPTO USES, AND S&P GLOBAL IS BUYING THE COMPANY THAT MAKES THEM 🔗
OpenZeppelin has put Chainlink CCIP and ACE straight into its Wizards, AI tooling and docs.
These are the templates many teams start from when they write a token contract. Chainlink says the tools sit behind BlackRock, WisdomTree and Franklin Templeton products.
S&P Global agreed to buy OpenZeppelin in September.
The naive read is that every token built with OpenZeppelin now uses Chainlink.
It doesn't work that way. A default in a template is an option, not a requirement.
Defaults still matter, though. When the easy path in the tool developers already trust includes your protocol, you get used without having to win every deal.
There's also a Defender to CRE migration guide, which moves some of OpenZeppelin's own workflows onto Chainlink.
~65% this shows up as steady CCIP usage over 2027 rather than a headline moment, ~35% it's mostly a press release
COIN CHECK: $HBAR made the shortlist of chains for Archax’s regulated tokenized Treasury product, next to Ethereum and Stellar. Regulated issuers quietly picking chains is the kind of adoption that never trends
$IBIT pulled in £498M on Monday, its biggest day in a year, while $ETH ETFs bled for a fourth day. $JPM now forecasts 10% a year for $BTC over the next decade. BlackRock filed for a downside-protected bitcoin ETF. $XRP finally has an official X account, and $XLM stablecoin volume is up 121% on the quarter
SYSTEM CHECK: Most of this month’s $BTC selling came from perp traders, not spot holders. Leverage leaving the room isn’t the same as conviction leaving it
🚨 $MSTR BOUGHT JUST 267 BTC LAST WEEK, AND MADE ITS BUYBACK BIGGER INSTEAD 🔄
Strategy now holds 848,517 BTC.
It also bought back another £145M ($193M) of its STRC preferred stock, and raised the buyback programme from £1.5B ($2B) to £2.25B ($3B).
The naive read is that Saylor's slowing down and the biggest buyer is stepping back.
The mechanism is the story. STRC dropped below its £75 ($100) par in last week's sell-off. Below par, issuing more STRC to buy bitcoin is expensive, so buying it back is the better trade.
This is capital allocation, not loss of conviction.
Strive did the opposite and added 1,223 BTC, with about £450M ($600M) more to spend this week.
SIGNAL CHECK: Nasdaq just had its worst week in 18 months and $BTC still closed the week above £61,600 ($82,000). Correlation is real until it isn’t, and this is the week to watch which one it is
