AkronDEX’s Perpetual Contracts: How Pricing, Margin, and Liquidation Work Together Perpetual futures markets depend on several connected mechanisms: how prices are determined, how positions are valued, how margin is allocated, and what triggers liquidation. These rules form the foundation of derivatives trading. AkronDEX’s public derivatives documentation provides specific details about each of these components. For pricing, the platform distinguishes between Last Price and Mark Price. Last Price reflects the most recent trade, while Mark Price is used to calculate unrealized profit and loss and assess liquidation conditions. Their separate roles help distinguish actual trade execution from position risk assessment. According to the documentation, Mark Price incorporates a multi-source spot price index, funding-rate adjustments, a short-term average basis, and the contract price. Taking the median of multiple candidate prices is intended to reduce the influence of an individual price anomaly. Additional rules address deviations among price sources and delayed data updates. The margin framework offers both Cross Margin and Isolated Margin. Cross Margin shares collateral across positions within the relevant account scope, allowing positions to be managed through a common pool of capital.
