Humza Yousaf complaining that 99% of the meetings he goes to are full of white people is ridiculous. Scotland was 99% white until relatively recently. Of course the senior positions were held by white people. Does anyone moan that community leaders in Nigeria are too Black? Or that meetings in China are too Asian? Funny how itโ€™s only white countries that get told their demographics are a problem. Katharine Birbalsingh is right to call this out.

I see there's a considerable media campaign to salvage something from the appalling anti-family video by CUAN/DRCC. The same media media who acted as cheerleaders for the two infamous failed referendums have leant no lessons. Middle Ireland is not going to be lectured.

'Alarmism over the Far Right' is a political and media manufactured concept deployed to silence anyone questioning ultra liberal rhetoric. Naive to think that what is destroying France won't destroy Ireland. All under the good auspices of EU autocrats and facilitated by our own craven politicians. #riots #France #farleft #farright
For all the hand wringing about the โ€˜far rightโ€™, it turns out the far left is a real danger to society. This weekโ€™s @Independent_ie column independent.ie/comment/eoin-โ€ฆ

This story in todayโ€™s @Independent_ie should make people angry. It shows how Irish graduates are not prioritised when approx 20k nursing visas have been granted since 2020 and 700 up to April this year alone. Why does Gov policy push our young to leave?

Heartbreaking scenes from Jordan as nine graves are prepared for the Christian martyrs who lost their lives in the deadly attack on St. Georgeโ€™s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak on October 23. What began as a funeral turned into a tragedy, leaving nine Christians dead and dozens injured after gunmen opened fire on mourners gathered inside the church. As Jordan prepares to lay its martyrs to rest, we ask you to keep their souls, the injured, and their grieving families in your prayers. May God grant them eternal rest and bring comfort and strength to their loved ones. ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ดโœ๏ธ #EasternChristians #Jordan #ChristianMartyrs #PrayForJordan #Christianity

It's easy to be disheartened at political polls but Aontu and Independent Ireland combined now hold more of the vote than either FF or FG. That's a big deal. Both Aontu and II individually hold more of the vote than Labour and the PBP combined. And both are just one percent behind the Social Democrats who are the anointed progressive party of the national media. Consider how much coverage PBP, Labour and SD receive on the national media and how much II and Aontu receive (and the tone of that coverage). It's no mean feat for both to have risen to 8% despite the national media. I take it as a good sign of steady progress. All Aontu and II need to do is keep raising their national profiles. There's still - because of the national media - a lot of people out there looking for change who do not know much about their platforms.

Tusla will protect itself at all costs. At a guess, they are the child's legal guardian and may not have consented to her being interviewed, and of course, โ€œin the best interestโ€ of the child. ๐Ÿ˜’
Dropped because there were details to this case that Irish authorities didn't want to be heard in open court. What other reason can there be?

Did you know some bloke used to live on the Walkinstown Roundabout? Michael "Chicken" Cullen and his sister Dolly lived in a cottage at Wilkinstown Cross, a gaff their father built in 1865 where the old country roads met. Then the 1950s arrived, and Dublin Corporation planned a major junction and a compulsory purchase order. The offer for the house was ยฃ1,000. Chicken, then 65, said no. The Corporation tried a softer approach. It built the pair a new cottage nearby on Walkinstown Avenue. Chicken still refused. The sticking point, as the story goes, was tenure. The Corporation would give only a lease at a shilling a year, not the freehold. A shilling was hardly a fortune, but Chicken wanted to own his home, not rent one. One version of the folklore says he finally relented when the shilling was waived. So the Corpo did the only thing left to it. It built around him. Two smaller roundabouts went up at either end, and the traffic passed in front of the cottage and behind it. For 21 years, Chicken and Dolly looked out their windows at a city driving round them. Then, one night in 1971, with no warning, the 86 year old quietly carried his belongings across the road to the new house. The Corporation moved in almost at once, and the old family home was knocked down. It is said Chicken wept at the sight. He lived on until 1980, aged 95.

Diffuse academic and policy networksโ€”education scholars at DCU, NCCA officials and aligned NGOsโ€”drive this via critical intercultural theory. They frame it as essential for inclusion after rapid post-2000s demographic change and to counter perceived exclusion by traditional markers. Surveys show most Irish back preserving traditions while accepting openness, yet the call to problematise ethnocentric Irish identity comes from specialist academic work, not broad public demand.

There it is folks!!!
The NCCA review, written by DCU academics, explicitly calls for schools to unpack "ethnocentric, essentialist" Irish identity as rural/white/settled/Catholic and promote alternatives beyond that. Similar framing appears in SPHE materials (Family A) and some political rhetoric. Driven by critical intercultural theories responding to post-2000s demographic shifts. Aim is inclusion and anti-racism via redefined national belonging. Critics argue it prioritises that over continuity of majority culture. No single cabalโ€”policy bodies, academics and funded NGOs shape the materials.

This is such an important read โ€ฆ
The systematic dismantling of Irishness. @john_mcguirk and @sarahcatryan make an excellent point of on today's episode of @JohnandSarahIrl about the "don't hug your grandkids" ad and Family A - we are being subjected to consistent messaging intended to deconstruct Irish cultural identity. Even Micheรกl Martin's recent comments about the 1916 leaders are more of this effort to rewrite history in order to redefine what it means to be Irish. This is not happening by accident. This is the influence of specific critical social theories, forced on us by academics and NGOs. It's about to get a lot worse for our children. They are going to be bombarded with this anti-Irishness in schools. I implore people to read the newly published NCCA-commissioned literature review on Intercultural Education. It's all in there. Woven into every aspect of schooling, they want children to "unpack and problematise ethnocentric, essentialist, and exclusionary understandings of Irish identity and culture". They want children to "see alternative visions of and possibilities for what it means to be Irish (e.g., including but also beyond white, settled, Catholic)" so as to "create an inclusive sense of Irishness". The Family A exercise shows us exactly what this looks like when it put into practice. Certain cultural markers are represented in an incredibly stereotypical and offensive way, and are equated with intolerance and close-mindedness. The NCCA literature review does the same - "rural, White and Catholic" are problematic. These representations of Irish cultural identity "perpetuates the false assertion of cultural homogeneity in Ireland prior to the 2000s". Ultimately, it takes issue with the Irish, as the dominant culture group, being positioned at the centre of the Irish cultural map because this has the effect of "โ€˜otheringโ€™ of racialised minorities in Ireland". It sees parents and children who resist as having succumbed to "hard-right populist 'White victim' narratives", which the literature review says needs to be carefully addressed with education. This is not ok. Let's do something about this before it gets any worse.
