A wonderful day of commemoration with the National Graves Association. Started with the annual Mass for all those who died for Irish Freedom at the historic St Mary's of the Angels Capuchin Churct on Church St in Dublin. 1/

This is the church from which Fathers Albert and Dominic were to minister to the 1916 leaders in Kilmainham Gaol. Following this a very fitting commemoration was held at the Hunger Strike Cereotaph in Glasnevin Cemetery. 2/

A very passionate oration was delivered by NGA Sligo rep Con Darcy, author of the recently published "Ireland's Hunger Strike Martys. Wreaths were also laid at the graves of Kevin Barry and eight of his comrades and at the Manchester Martyrs Cenotaph. 3/3

I gcuimhne mhná uasal Máire Drumm. Fifty years ago on October 28 outgoing Vice President of Sinn Féin and life-long republican activist Maire Drumm was murdered by a British-backed loyalist death squad as she recovered from eye surgery in Belfast's Mater Hospital. 1/

Maire joined Sinn Féin in 1940. She was a tireless campaigner for Republican prisoners which is how she met her husband Jimmy Drumm who was a Republican prisoner in Crumlin Road Prison in Belfast. They married in 1947. 2/

During the H Block prison protests and hunger strikes of the late 1970s and early 1980s, while others flew for cover, Donal, along with his life- long friend Christy Moore were resolute in their support for the "Blamket men and women" of Long Kesh and Armagh Jail. 2/

From 'The Rakes of Kildare' through "Emmet Spicleand", "Planxty", "The Bothy Band", to "Moving Hearts" Donal Lunny's craft and brilliance brought Irish traditional music to new audiences without ever compromising its integrity. 1/

GOVT MISINFORMATION ALERT - If Ireland deploys DF to proposed ‘EU Support Mission’ to Lebanon without Triple Lock -It will NOT be a Blue Helmet Peacekeeping Mission -It will be an EU (Von Der Leyen ‘We Stand With Israel’) Peace Enforcement Mission to Disarm Hezbollah -A CIVIL WAR
The vast majority of people want Ireland to maintain our proud tradition of peacekeeping. Reforming the triple lock ensures our decisions on participation in peacekeeping missions are not dictated by a veto from Russia, China, or the United States.

The analysis of @SJAMcBride @BenLowry2 and @StephenNolan of the fallout of the current Garvaghy Road protest is based on the premise that the Six-County State is a normal democratic state. This is a false premise as the legitimacy of state has always been contested.. 1/

This has been the case since the Six-County State was founded in 1920/21 and the current events on the Garavaghy Road only underline this reality. 3/

Despite almost 30 years of attempts to normalise the instiutuons of Brirish rule in Ireland for many nationalists they still lack legitimacy in the eyes of a large section of the nationslist population. 4/4

This is Rosemary Nelson’s son giving a very powerful and moving explanation of why this march is a total disaster. Add to that the sight of Marie-Therese Murray holding an image of her son Darren who died during the same time it’s crystal clear why this march must be banned

The decision of a British Court in the early hours of this morning and the events that have unfolded on the Garvaghy Road are a sharp reminder that despite 28 years of normalising British rule in Ireland nothing fundamentally changes. 1/

Yet again the British State and its various institutions, its courts and police, combine in an attempt to force a sectarian and triumphalist Orange march on nationslist people, effectively imprisoning them within their own communities. 2/

What is happening today is a result of failing to address what is the root cause of conflict in our country, the continued Brirish military and political occupation of north east Ireland. Solidarity to the people of the Garvaghy Road! 3/3
