These two news are genuinely terrible if you think about the esports and Simracing world as a whole. F1 is a terrible game from a graphics and streaming perspective. Building an esports scene around that level of quality only made things worse. But it brought huge numbers, huge views, and a massive audience, especially if we look at the reels and posts from the official F1 Instagram account. At the end of the day, we have to look at the numbers. Maybe with a better game, the views and the overall spectacle would have been even bigger. But would that really have meant a brighter future? Unfortunately, the investment is higher than the return, and because of that, teams are starting to pull out of "our virtual world." It was pushed to the absolute maximum during COVID, and that led to a lot of things being overvalued. The fact that F1/FOM no longer want to believe in esports is a huge blow, not just for F1, but for other simulators and organizations as well. They'll think twice before getting involved, or more importantly, whether it's even worth it. There's absolutely nothing to celebrate about Williams, McLaren, or F1 Esports shutting things down if your goal was to compete in an esports championship, prove yourself through your skill, and maybe even get paid for it. We're talking about ability being demonstrated in a specific field. And I honestly don't care if one driver gets paid €17,000 and another gets paid €500. That's between the teams and the drivers. The teams choose how much they spend, and it's none of our business. It's beautiful to have founded an esports team (TRT) based on fun and passion, and to see it racing across five different simulators, with the dream of helping as many talented people as possible achieve something they've always wanted. What's wrong with that? I knew from day one that financially, creating something like this would put us below zero. There's no point reading the nonsense people post online. Our Simracing/esports world is incredible, but it is not profitable. Period. Personally, though, I'll keep moving forward with the belief that one day things will get better. And until then, TRT will always stay true to its principles.
