My partner RoCo also uses a manual wheelchair, but Sheffield hills are A LOT. E-motion wheels would give them so much independence and energy back. Unfortunately, life changing tech doesn't come cheap. If you can't donate, sharing also really helps gofundme.com/f/help-roco-get…

The thing I find particularly galling in the idea of disabled people having 'less able bodies', is that disabled people are the strongest people, mentally and physically, that I know.

My trip to #Ghent for #VeloCity2024 restarts after a family weekend nr Paris. With my ♿, my #handbike (& hubby). 🧵 Cycled to RER station & requested assistance on departure & @ Gare du Nord. U got to wait for OK @ other end. Took 1/2hr B4 getting onto train but we're off 🎉.

Before going to find our Hotel, I made sure to check out the stage for tomorrow morning (was it accessible, as I'd asked?). I can report: it's accessible & rather grand!! 🤩 They took the opportunity to do light checks, so I've already been on the big screen once 😅!

Excited, if a trepidatious! Off on quite a big adventure (me & the #handbike + hubby). Invited to speak at #VeloCity2024 in #Ghent next week 🎉. Taking opportunity to go via Paris & see family on way. Previously I'd have driven, with handbike in the boot. We're going by train 🤪.

Lucky (again) I have the handbike cos have to get off at previous station & to my sister's from there is V steep! But lift to platform is super small & I counted 6 different wheelchair users going up & down it as we waited. It's gonna be chaos during Paralympics! 😱
