Off The Island Podcast

Another thing that I wanted to shout out with @IslesOTI is that @philzfactz brought up the question of load management. I do think there's going to be some of this going forward. But he's right in talking about how roster slots plays a part in the limited ability to rotate guys in. Another huge part, though, is the waiver rule. It's hard to know what will happen with waivers going forward but the purpose of it was originally to stop players from being abused by clubs by being called up and sent down at the club's convenience after they have some NHL tenure. Still, you usually do have 3 slots that don't require waivers to use, and I'd think teams would want very much to use those guys more given the (seeming) increase in injuries in recent years.

#isles @IslesOTI You brought this up on the Off the Island podcast and it's such a very, very important point.
