The co-pilot of the Learjet that cr—shed in Florida has been identified as 20-year-old Nathalia Filgueiras, who reportedly texted her boyfriend just 10 minutes before the de—dly crash.
Her mother says she always feared that flying would eventually take her daughter away from her, despite being proud that she was pursuing her dream.
“I wanted her to live her dream, but I knew that her dream was going to be the thing that would take her away from me,” she told the New York Post.
Just 10 minutes before the crash, Filgueiras reportedly sent her boyfriend a message saying: “I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice.”
The jet was reportedly heading to the Bahamas when it plunged toward the ground at approximately 20,000 feet per minute.
Filgueiras earned her pilot’s license while still in high school. Her stepfather said she had accumulated 1,300 flight hours.
She had previously celebrated her achievements on social media, highlighting that she and her boyfriend were both under 21 and already held commercial, multi-engine, instrument and flight instructor certifications.
Eight other people were aboard the aircraft when it cr—shed. Their identities have not yet been released.
