AI can’t detect cancer. Dogs with BCIs can. 90.8% accuracy.
I sat down with @dognosis founder Akash, to discuss -

I couldn't be more bullish after watching Dognosis build for the past year.
We need more wacky (but technically sound) ideas across frontier bio.

Met Jessie today! She's part of @dognosis, a Bangalore team building early cancer detection from a dog's sense of smell.
Here's how it works: trained dogs sniff breath samples while wearing a custom EEG headset (no surgery).
Dognosis reads how the dog's brain responds and uses machine learning to turn that into a prediction.
Their mission: "Every disease has a scent. We're on a mission to detect it."
Thank you to the Dognosis team for bringing Jessie to the village 🧡

Imagine if Americans commemorated Pearl Harbor with photos of Hiroshima or Brits commemorated Poppy Day with images of carpet bombed Dresden...
Yet this is how Western liberal media covers October 7 every day.
Don’t wage wars you aren’t prepared to lose. Don’t commit atrocities and assume there won’t be a price.
Israel’s conduct has been restrained and mild - on both a historic basis and from first principles; but the genocide narrative was over determined even before the war started and is detached from fundamentals. It is a blood libel.
Israel is on the side of good, its enemies and their enablers evil. One side seeks to minimize the death of innocents, the other celebrates it.
Barbarism must be defeated. Green-Red Islamo-fascism is not the way.
You know all this in your heart unless you are morally inverted and think good is bad and bad good. But your desire to be liked or to appear intelligent in elite circles means you won’t say it out loud for fear of rejection. I get it. But Monstrous ideologies must be vanquished without apology.

Thanks to The Ken for some thoughtful coverage!
Appreciate their acknowledgement that multi-cancer breath test has certain advantages over other modalities for specific use-cases, but disagree with the framing of other players as competitors.
Solving the mammoth problem of early detection at population scale will require stacking orthogonal tests as a 1-2-3 punch. Excited to work with both liquid biopsy as well as imaging companies to achieve this, more to come soon
we're participating in the multispecies hackathon in bengaluru this weekend, a @SocratusW and @elephant_is initiative with samagata foundation.
we're sharing our work at dognosis and a new open-source project we're fostering, Namma Indies.
12–13 sept. more soon.

A dog in a 3D-printed sensor helmet, sniffing breath samples in a lab, is at the heart of a recent @EconomicTimes feature on @dognosis.

we're hiring a video creator.
at dognosis, we're building systems that detect cancer at its earliest stage, through canine olfaction.
there's a story in every room. with the dogs, in the lab and with patients. nobody has filmed any of it yet. you'd be the first, and you'd do the whole thing, camera to cut.
sounds like you? apply at dognosis.tech/careers
we're hiring for 3 critical and senior roles in our R&D team across hardware and software -
principal hardware engineer: you’ll scale the systems that present breath samples to our detection dogs, taking us from hundreds to thousands of samples a day and from one platform to tens worldwide!
project manager, hardware: run the iteration loops that take our hardware from working prototype to shippable product, turning ambiguous R&D goals into clear milestones, owners, and keep us on schedule with collaborators across the world.
principal software engineer: lead our software team and own the architecture decisions that keep the platform reliable as sample volume and deployments grow. our software has to be right, with a high cost for each missed signal, so you'll set the standards for testing, review, and delivery that the team builds on.
if you’d like to join the pack, reach out to us at: dognosis.tech/careers
You can tell which government service is non-functional by observing which one has a whole industry of consultants helping citizens getting their basic services
Paper pushers life hack - make a very straight forward task so difficult and painful that completing it would look like a great achievement and a reason to celebrate and inaugurate it.
This is more relevant than ever, as signal to noise ratios are getting worse drastically. I'd add that any writing with AI flavour is a big red flag for most people reading a cold email

🐶 Dogs can smell things that humans - and often even machines - cannot.
For years, researchers have reported cases where trained dogs could detect cancers, infections, and other diseases by sensing subtle biochemical changes in the body. But what if we could go one step further?
My latest @ProgressPotent1 guest, @Itamar_Bitan, Co-Founder of @dognosis, is working at the intersection of canine intelligence, artificial intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, and precision diagnostics. His team's ambitious goal: digitize canine scent perception itself and potentially create a new generation of disease detection tools.
In this fascinating conversation, we discuss:
🐕 Why dogs may be the most advanced chemical sensors on Earth;
🧠 How brain-computer interfaces could help decode canine perception;
🤖 The role of AI and machine learning in translating scent into data;
🧬 How a "digital nose" could fit alongside liquid biopsies and other cancer detection technologies;
🔬 Whether the future of diagnostics may come from understanding nature rather than replacing it;
If successful, this work could reshape how we think about cancer screening, early detection, and the hidden biological intelligence all around us.
