Homegirl LITERALLY says in interviews that she's not a "technical" vocalist. She has some training from her opera famous mom but that's IT, she worked overtime with her voice. She sings because music saved her, singing saved her, and saves ppl. Stop picking artists' talent apart just because they're not technically "perfect" *Then y'all wanna bully her for lip syncing 🫩 make up your minds, do you wanna hear her or not?!?
most her technique declining in the years post daydream manifests in a lack of head coordination in her mix, if she’d been taught more about her specific instrument she could’ve adapted to her changing voice instead of subsequently damaging it more:/

And they weren’t a one trick pony either. A MASTERCLASS.
When En Vogue hit SNL in March 1992, they dismantled the myth that girl groups couldn’t sing full-throttle live in heels. Trading leads across Cindy, Dawn, Terry, and Maxine, their dynamic control remained untouchable—from Dawn’s raspy rock bite to Terry’s operatic belts. When they converged on the hook, their four-part harmonies locked in with their blend and zero backing tape. The album dropped 3 days later, proving to themselves and to the world just how Funky, these Divas really are.

Two things can be true at once… Cardi B benefits from being light skinned, and she benefits from being Latina. Pretending colorism suddenly stops existing when Cardi enters the conversation is intellectually dishonest. We know damn well proximity to whiteness and lighter skin carry advantages, especially in entertainment. And mind you, that’s BEFORE we start comparing actual talent, skill, and artistry because once that door opens, this conversation gets a whole lot more uncomfortable for Cardi👀‼️🎯🔥
MONA ADDRESSES CARDI B CONTROVERSY, SAYS COLORISM PLAYS A ROLE IN SUCCESS Cardi B argued that some people don't get opportunities because they aren't smart enough to market themselves and sell themselves in important rooms. Mona: “I just thought she was so wrong about it.” “Cardi is very talented, Cardi better than a lot of people.” “But If there was a girl that did exactly what I did, and she was big and Black, I can't say that she would make it where I make it.” “I know part of the reason why I made it here is because I have the complexion for the connection. That's my belief.”

Mona clarified that she never attacked Cardi B. Her issue was with Cardi saying the colorism conversation has nothing to do with her because she worked hard to get where she is. Mona said Cardi is wrong about that. Being light-skinned and her heritage has absolutely something to do with her success, and acknowledging that doesn't mean she didn't work hard or isn't talented. Mona even brought up her own success to prove the point, and Marc agreed with her completely. Ish, on the other hand, didn't say a word, even though he disagreed with everything Mona was saying. He just kept drinking, waiting for Joe to speak so he could jump in, and that's exactly what happened. Joe said he disagreed with Mona because Cardi B worked really hard to be where she is. Then Ish jumped in to explain how people called Cardi ugly back when she was working at the night club. Thank God Marc was there to strengthen Mona's point. He said the best person to make the case about colorism is a light-skinned woman like Mona herself. Mona also pointed out a flaw in Joe and Ish's argument: if people said Cardi was ugly, what do they say about dark-skinned women who get called ugly? It's a thousand times worse for these dark skin women . I honestly don't get why Joe and Ish were acting like Mona was saying something crazy. And again, thank God Marc was there to back up her point. Mona deserves applause for this, and so does Marc for having her back because without Marc Mona would have handled it differently .

Toni Braxton says she had sold over 20 million albums. Her royalty check: $1,972. Months later, she filed for bankruptcy. "I promise you, less than $2,000." The check came while she was on tour for "Un-Break My Heart." She says a gag order kept her quiet for 10 years, while everyone said she had spent her money. Late 1997, she sued LaFace and its parent, Arista, to get out of her contract. In January 1998, she filed for bankruptcy. The label countersued. They settled in 1999, and she went back to making records. Her own words: "I can't sit here and say they didn't give me any money. That would be a lie." The case for Toni: her voice made the label millions, and her check didn't come close to the sales. The case for LaFace: she signed the deal, and every dress and limo came out of her share, as the contract said. In the video below, she explains where the money went, down to the limo rides. If a label takes the risk on an unknown singer, is it fair that she pays back every expense before she sees a dime?
