Book can never win the narrative. He put up big numbers early in his career and pundits would say heβs doing it for a losing team. Then he gets a real core around him, still puts up big numbers and goes to the Finals. Then proves himself in two Olympic Gold Medal runs. But management gambles on KD and blows it all up. Heβs still performing like the same player and is much better today than he was 10 years ago. In fact, he averages more ppg in his last 9 straight seasons than his career average. Only Giannis can also make that same claim.
The optics on Devin Booker are subjective at best. The man is elite.
