1/ ๐งต THE ESCANOR FILES: WHO IS โSIR ESCANORโ?
Iโve been quietly researching the real-world identity of the self proclaimed โHopium Slayerโ for some time.
There is a specific person whose documented history overlaps with details Escanor has publicly provided about himself:
George Chryssanthopoulos.
Greek-Canadian.
Quebec.
Approximately the same age.
And, eventually, Playa del Carmen/Solidaridad, Mexico.
That name also comes with a rather interesting documented history in Montreal.
But before anyone races ahead: I am not stating that Escanor is George Chryssanthopoulos.
Not yet.
This thread is going to separate three things very carefully:
๐น what Escanor has publicly said about himself
๐น what public records establish about George Chryssanthopoulos
๐น where those two trails intersect
Some of those intersections are remarkably specific.
But circumstantial evidence is still circumstantial evidence, and an extremely unusual name is not an identity document.
So this is not going to be a โtrust me broโ exposรฉ.
Shall we?โฆ
Tonight, we are making, and devouring, Casarecce alla Norma Cremosa, ร la Mademoiselle Shorty!
A little Sicilian inspiration, a little Shorty improvisation.
Rich, velvety tomato sauce, golden eggplant, garlic, chilli, olives, baby spinach, freshly shaved Parmesan, basil from my garden, and a luxurious little swirl of cream.
Finished with feta, sliced spring onions, and fresh cracked black pepper.
And enough for three generous dinners. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Sorted!
We have wisteria babies ๐ฅน Playing the lonnnnng game with these beauties, 7 - 10 years before theyโre likely to bloom. Here for it ๐
Just planted 7 glorious wisteria seeds that I collected earlier this year. They were soaking in a little water in a glass on the windowsill, for a week, to get the germination process started ๐ฑ See the beginnings along the top?
Donโt mind my dirty nails, I also just potted up 40 heirloom tomato seedlings, from seeds I gathered myself ๐ฅฐ

Jerusalem in Two Eyes
By Palestinian poet Rashid Hussein (1936โ1977)
In New York, thousands of miles from Palestine, the poet Rashid Hussein encountered a Palestinian woman undergoing treatment for her eyes in hospital. It was June 1967, and news had arrived of Israel's occupation of East Jerusalem. From the meeting of these two experiences, a woman's struggle to recover her sight and a homeland's loss of its beloved city, Hussein composed one of his most poignant poems, Jerusalem in Two Eyes.
Hussein himself introduced the poem with these words:
โIn New York, a Palestinian sister was in hospital receiving treatment for her eyes. And the fall of Jerusalem on the fifth of June. And this poem.โ
Born in the Palestinian village of Musmus in 1936, Rashid Hussein was a poet, journalist, teacher and an influential voice in Palestinian resistance literature. His poetry expressed the experiences of Palestinians living under Israeli military rule, the pain of dispossession and the enduring attachment to their homeland. He left Palestine for the United States in the 1960s and died tragically in a fire in his New York apartment in February 1977, aged just 40.
Jerusalem in Two Eyes was published in March 1969, on page 28 of the Beirut literary magazine Al-Adab, founded by Suhail Idris, in an issue devoted to Palestinian resistance and the fedayeen revolution.
What makes this poem so moving is the way Hussein transforms the colour of a woman's eyes into the living geography of Palestine. Within them, he sees palm trees and grapevines, his mother's patience, his father's orchards, the mountains, the harvest and the threshing floors. He sees Jerusalem not simply as a city under occupation, but as an inseparable part of Palestinian memory, family and identity.
Years later, in a recording dated 1986, Bahraini artist Salman Zeman gave the poem a musical voice, carrying Hussein's words beyond the printed page.
Today, I am sharing the original 1969 publication, Salman Zeman's musical interpretation and my own illustrated tribute to this beautiful work.
Jerusalem in Two Eyes
Rashid Hussein, 1969
English translation
The colour of your eyes is palm trees,
The colour of your eyes is grapevines,
The colour of your eyes, like my love for Jerusalem,
Is precious, a thousand times precious.
And patient is the colour of your eyes, like my mother,
And sorrowful, like my plains,
And stubborn, like my mountains.
The colour of your eyes is my father planting apples
And figs,
And saying:
โPlant! For what you plant will become our children.โ
And singing:
โO nights! O nights!โ
The colour of your eyes is Saladin,
Without his men,
And the torment of your eyes is the torment
Of men who are men in name alone.
The colour of your eyes is a harvest,
The colour of your eyes is threshing floors,
The colour of your eyes is peace,
Through which my homeland travels.
And brief is the colour of your eyes, like my life,
And wounded, like my poetry,
And long, like my imprisonment.
The colour of your eyes is doves and eagles
In my imagination.
Original poem: Rashid Hussein, Al-Adab, March 1969, p. 28.
Musical interpretation: Salman Zeman, composition and vocals, recording dated 1986.

Sobbing. Actual tears. Apparently Iโm a culinary menace now. ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Tonightโs casual little act of French extravagance:
๐ฅ Le Feuilletรฉ de Mademoiselle Shorty
Chicken, chicken liver, porcini and mushroom feuilletรฉ in gloriously golden puff pastry.
โฑ๏ธ 240 min prep | 80 min cooking | 25 min resting
๐
Chutney de Tomates et dโOignons Caramรฉlisรฉs
Because apparently I make my own relish now.
โฑ๏ธ 2 hours
๐ Chutney de Pamplemousse Rose et Gingembre
A ridiculously fabulous grapefruit, ginger and caramelised onion chutney.
โฑ๏ธ 90 min
๐ฅฌ Salade Verte ร la Franรงaise
Something green to maintain the illusion of restraint.
โฑ๏ธ 10 min
All homemade. No conventional oven. Just an Aldi airfryer, a gas stovetop and the AUDACITY. ๐
I DIDNโT KNOW I HAD THIS LEVEL OF CULINARY NONSENSE IN ME. ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Somebody alert the French. ๐ซ๐ท
Babe wake up, Iโve just committed another act of culinary extravagance. ๐ฅ๐ฉ๐ผโ๐ณ
Sometimes, you do a thing. Itโs a thing youโve never done beforeโฆ
You have an idea, a vision. You donโt have a name for it, but you decide to try your hand at it, and see where it goes.
So you buy some chicken thighs, chicken livers, mushrooms, dried porcini and puff pastry. You raid the herb garden, get a little carried away with the brandy, and spend a rainy Sunday afternoon pottering around the kitchen.
Somewhere along the way, you discover youโve made mushroom duxelles, a chicken farce, and something resembling a French pรขtรฉ en croรปte.
Duxelles, for the uninitiated (myself included, until today), is a classic French preparation of finely chopped mushrooms, onions or shallots, and butter, cooked slowly until almost all the moisture evaporates. Intensely savoury, beautifully concentrated, and apparently something Iโve been making without knowing it had a fancy French name. ๐
I even made little pastry leaves. Because apparently thatโs who I am now.
And then you open the airfryer and see what youโve made.
Iโm 51 years old, and I still get ridiculously excited about learning something new. Especially when it involves butter.
Anyway. Look what I made. ๐ฅนโค๏ธ
Itโs totally cool if you want to vote with your fingers and unfollow me. Just know, imma unfollow you too, as soon as I work it out.
Obviously, it works both ways. Go for it. We cool. Youโll thank me later ๐

I really believe that Jimmy AKA AuntieDeb realised that Barry J Lewis was mentally unstable and obsessed with Nan and saw that as an opportunity that he could weaponise the mentally ill Barry J Lewis against Nan Gallagher, Jimmy has always had a deep seeded hate against Nan.
Note to Australians:
There are too many of us for them to catch us all. If you're worried about the law eventually catching up with you, don't share swastikas or literal Nazi memes.
They may still get you, but maybe they won't throw the book at you. Be smart.
An Australian mother is facing up to five years in jail after being raided by police and charged for allegedly reposting X videos and images containing Nazi symbols.
The videos allegedly included archival footage of Nazi Germany showing swastikas.

I donโt care what ANYONE says, @mattrife is THE MOST feel good, equal opportunity comedian on the planet. And the hottest. Fight me.
The devil is in the detail.
Bad faith actors, they come here to derail
Gossamer threads are woven through the chaos
The tapestry of truth will enrich you or betray us.
Gentle grace and mercy
Wrinkles are where the shadows lie
Make the truth great again
When all they do is lie
Good and benevolence
Evil and malevolence
Now, who are we to put karma on the clock?
Nightmare eternity
Landslide serenity
Noticing, awakening, perpetual shock.
Can you feel it?
Are you reeling?
When is enough going to be enough?
Revolution.
And dissidence.
Or talmudvision and living in the silence?
Quiet. Or loud.
Cowering? Or proudโฆ.
Ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh ohh ohhh ohhhh
What the fuck are we doing here?
No ohhhhh, no ohhh ohhhh
Are we bigger than our fear?
Indoctrination, itโs so fucking easy.
Marching to the beat
of the music they wrote for us
Goodness gracious, are we just cowards?
Or do we find our goddamn feet?
Salvation
Humanity
Procrastinationโs not our destiny!
Courage
And truth
Itโs now or never
I believe in youuuuu!
Gentle grace and mercy
Where the shadows hide
Make the truth great again
Strip virtue from the lies
Good and benevolence
Evil and malevolence
Now, who are we to put karma on the clock?
Nightmare eternity
Landslide serenity
Noticing, awakening, perpetual shock.
