At the same time that the war against Iran is ongoing and must be stopped, DC itself is under military occupation by National Guard since August 2025 and Trump has stated they will not leave until 2029. They have created a "safe and beautiful taskforce" with all the Federal law enforcement agencies that is terrorizing local Black communities. Where local police should be responding to the needs of the community, these Federal agents have subjected the people to abuse and violence, including the recent killing of Julian Bailey by US Marshalls. This state of siege is made possible because DC has been denied statehood and the rightful authority to govern its own affairs, we must change this- FREE DC! I had some great conversations with two amazing local community members here in DC, NeeNee @neeneetay and Melani @MelaniNDouglass , that have caused me to reflect on my work here and the ways that I can be of service in strengthening the connections between this struggle and the concerns and struggles facing the local communities in Washington DC. My efforts here have had impacts on the local community and its people, and it is my desire not to harm but to work in communication, to lift up and to contribute what strength I can to the ongoing struggle for rights and freedom which this community has been engaged in for years. I will be engaging continuously on these issues going forward and encourage others like myself who have not yet done so to work to connect to and advance their struggles in common along with the communities in which they are taking place.

What time should I tune in to see Bad Bunny?

I am humbled to be elected as the next ANC Commissioner for single member district 6/8F02 in the Navy Yard area! I would like to give a huge thank you to all of the voters for trusting me with their vote. Huge kudos to my team for pushing me on those tough and meaningful days; my friends, my family; esp. my older brothers that made sure the little sister was always cared for, my strategists at GoodParty, fellow ANC Commissioners who have endorsed and stood alongside me, my teachers, my home church family at the Temple of Praise. A special thanks to my son who has made each moment of this memorable — I have hope all because of you. To my mom who never left my side in this race, you are honestly the best. To my dad who is my angel, I love you and we did it! This moment is an honor in so many ways. This campaign was one from my heart. It was a courageous effort that was bigger than just myself. I recognize the strength of the people. I recognize that leading by example is critical; because young eyes are always watching, just like those of my son. I recognize that hard work is the key to getting things done. And, this holds true because I have been working hard to make a difference within my #Ward8 community since the age of 14. Time stops for no one. And, now is the time — as your Commissioner-Elect of 6/8F02 to move forward for the betterment of our community, together. On day one, I will be sharing my plan to our community because there is so much work to do. And — I am ready to lead! I ask for your patience as I will be in vigorous ANC training over the next few weeks. See you in the community, and I hope to see you at the swearing-in ceremony; I will be sure to share information as forthcoming information is provided. We did it! Let’s move our community forward.✨

I’m told @cnn has denied all Black press outlets access to covering the debate this evening. Is this true @rolandsmartin? @NNPA_BlackPress? I certainly hope not 🙏🏽
