The guidelines for the "greenwashing" regulation - one of Danielle Smith's 9 Bad Laws - have been updated. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The high-handed greenwashing bill turned environmental transparency into a legal liability rather than a competitive advantage, and many companies in Canada simply stopped reporting their environmental performance and targets as a result. While these are a big improvement from the original 2024 regulations, there's still lots of compliance uncertainty. I don't think these changes will get companies to start reporting on environmental performance again. competition-bureau.canada.ca…

Canadian heavy crude is fetching near-record premiums across the Pacific, bolstering the case for the country’s plan to build a new pipeline to its west coast. A barrel of Canadian Cold Lake crude delivered to South Korea traded at a record $9.50 a barrel more than the Dubai crude benchmark in September. It’s a stark contrast to the weakening price Canadian oil is getting in the US, its biggest market. Oil sands benchmark Western Canadian Select’s discount, called a differential, to a monthly average of West Texas Intermediate futures widened to as much as $28.25 a barrel in Alberta last week, the biggest in almost four years. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Lowan bemoaning the “existence” of Conservatives is willfully blind to the fact that almost half of the province voted for them. Wonder if she holds the same destructive wish for her neighbours who did not vote Green. Juvenile.
As a conservative who voted green last night @Emily_Lowan, @BCGreens you should apologize. Tolerance for political diversity - including the greens is a key feature of democracy. Hoping you misspoke.

Political lesson of the day (and year, decade and century): Don’t be Eby. While politics is inseparable from opportunism, there *is* a stupid way of being opportunistic.

The spectacular downfall of David Eby offers many lessons, but it mainly serves as yet another reminder that economic realities don't care about your political ideology, whether left or right. Don't mess with people's ability to build a better life for themselves.
"I'll be offering my resignation as premier. Obviously." @Dave_Eby confirms he is stepping down as Premier and BC NDP leader following his election loss to @LDoerkson's BC Conservatives.

The one common, overlooked aspect of states and provinces that have leaned socialist for decades (ex BC) is their geological abundance. Nature affords these regions a longer shot clock with bad economic policies.

Imagine going back to October 2024 and telling Canadian oil & gas execs: - Trudeau, Guilbeault Eby gone - Strait of Hormuz war, WTI > $100 - Liberals adopted energy superpower agenda - New west coast oil pipeline designated in national interest - TMX full - Keystone XL/ Southbow Bridger moving forward - Conservative BC government - LNG Canada Phase 2 FID’d - Natural gas gigascale data centres FID’d - Emissions cap scrapped, IAA removed from almost all O&G projects - 100% immediate and permanent expensing for capital investments

A Conservative majority! BC had enough of Eby, and the way he engineered his own downfall is a fitting end to his legacy. But BC should keep the Conservatives’ honeymoon short. Getting the province’s economy, governance and fiscal health back on track is no small task. #bcpoli
