If I am a college coach and as a player youāre missing the live period with you high school team or AAU team, I canāt even take you serious as a basketball player. Stuff families do nowadays is crazy.

Saw a practice today. Letās say practice was at 9am. 4 kids walked in at 9am on the dot. 2 at 8:58. You canāt take most of these kids seriously. Remember the are a few BASKETBALL PLAYERS and most are just kids who play basketball.

Best way for me to evaluate a guard at any level is to watch them in Pick &Roll situations. Why?
1. I look to see if they have a āsolutionā for each coverage.
(Theyāll see roughly 8 coverages in the NBA, 4 in college and 3 in high school.) @SteveNash
2. I look to see if they have the passing vision and basketball IQ to destroy the tag help. Can they make the cross-court corner pass like @Hali did in college?
3. Do they have the size, speed and quickness to handle traps?
4. Do they have the ball skills and agility to back up out of traps with the dribble? (Thank you, Bob Hurley)
5. Can they keep the defense guessing until the last possible moment to make a decision. @CP3 @Huertas09
6. Can they score behind the screen, can I shoot the floater vs. ādropā coverage and can they finish at the rim?

Tony Brothers has it again in favor of OKC. This is a shameless FLOP. The incompetent called the foul extremely late when he realized that Champagnie freed the shot of 3. @spurs @NBA @OfficialNBARefs @NBCSports @NBAOfficial

I watched AAU basketball all weekend.
I left with bad news for most players:
Too many are building highlight reels before theyāre building winning habits.
The game ends. They lose. And before theyāve watched film or owned what needs to changeā¦
The post is already up.
The highlight clip.
The posed photo.
Everyone wants exposure.
But exposure doesnāt fix bad shot selection.
It doesnāt make you defend.
It doesnāt teach you how to impact winning.
The camera should document the work.
It shouldnāt become the reason for the work.

Sat in a recruiting meeting once where the conversation about a kid lasted 45 seconds.
His film was good. His measurables checked every box. His grades were fine.
The position coach put his name up, two assistants said "I have heard he is a problem," and the head coach said move on.
45 seconds.
That kid never knew why the offer he expected never came. He spent his whole senior year wondering
what happened.
Coaches are not just building rosters. They are building locker rooms. Every offer is a bet on who you are as a person, not just as a player.
Act accordingly.
