가세연의 첫 ‘부정선거감시단’부터 자리를 지켜온 우리 엄마와 나, 부방대 1기였던 우리 가족은, 부정선거를 밝히는 것이 대한민국을 자유민주주의 국가로 유지하는 길이라 생각했다. 그 지난 시간, 이를 말할 때마다 내가 듣는 말는 ‘똑똑한 애가 왜 바보같은 이야기를 믿냐‘ 였다.
아마 부정선거를 위해 싸워 온 대부분의 지난 7-8년 간 부정선거의 진실을 알아야한다고 외친 분들이 많은 이들에게 들어 온 말이라고 생각한다.
많은 분들이 계몽되어 다행인 지금, 이를 위해 전면적으로 싸워온 이들을 루머로 떼지어 몰려다니며 여론형성하며 다치게하는 이들은(정치인부터 인플루언서까지) 정말 나쁜 사람들이다. 본인들만 우월하다는 선민정신은, 민주당과 다를 바 없다
특히 나라구하자는 목소리를 내뱉으면서 이들에게 상처 주는 이들은. 묵과하면 안된다. 그 누구라도 성역화하라는 게 아니다.

[민주당 텃밭 미국 동네에서 보안관 아재들이 단체로 들고 일어남]
미국 정치 뉴스 보면 가끔 "불법체류자 문제로 나라가 반으로 쪼개졌다"는 얘기 많이 나오잖아?
한국인 입장에서는 솔직히 체감이 잘 안 됨.
"아니, 불법체류자가 범죄 저질렀으면 경찰이 잡아서 추방하면 끝 아니야? 도대체 뭐가 문제임?" 싶단 말이지.
근데 미국은 이 상식이 완전히 깨진 동네가 꽤 많음. 이번에 터진 메릴랜드주 하포드 카운티의 제프리 갈러(Jeffrey Gahler) 보안관 사건이 그 민낯을 적나라하게 보여주는 레전드 사건임.
이게 무슨 일인지, 한국인이 딱 이해하기 쉽게 썰로 풀어봄.
1. 배경: "우린 불체자 안 넘길 건데?"라는 민주당 주 정부
일단 미국 시스템부터 알아야 함. 한국 경찰은 정부 명령 한마디면 일사불란하게 움직이지만, 미국 '보안관(Sheriff)'은 주민들이 직접 투표로 뽑은 선출직임. 도지사나 국회의원이 함부로 못 자름.
그리고 미국 민주당 텃밭 주(메릴랜드, 캘리포니아, 뉴욕 등)에는 이른바 '성역 도시(Sanctuary City)'라는 해괴한 정책이 있음.
"불법체류자도 인권이 있다. 지역 경찰은 불체자 잡아도 연방 이민국(ICE)에 넘기지 마라. 안 그러면 불체자들이 경찰을 무서워해서 범죄 신고를 안 한다."
겉으로는 그럴듯한 인도주의처럼 보이지? 근데 현실은 어떻게 굴러가냐? 길거리에서 칼부림을 하든, 마약을 팔든 일단 잡혀 들어온 흉악범 불체자까지 연방 정부에 인계 안 하고 그냥 지역 사회로 다시 방면해버리는 기현상이 벌어짐.
2. 발단: 피눈물 흘린 보안관과 두 여성의 죽음
갈러 보안관이 관할하는 동네에서 끔찍한 살인 사건들이 연달아 터짐.
방에서 목이 졸려 살해당한 20세 청각장애인 여성 케일라 해밀턴.
산책로에서 조깅하다 무참히 살해당한 다섯 아이의 엄마 레이첼 모린.
범인들을 잡고 보니 둘 다 국경을 불법으로 넘어온 불체자 범죄자였음. 심지어 악명 높은 갱단 소속이거나 이미 다른 곳에서 수배 중이던 놈들이었음.
갈러 보안관은 피가 거꾸로 솟는 거임.
원래 미국에는 교도소에 범죄자가 들어오면 신원을 털어서 불체자인지 확인하고 바로 연방 이민국에 넘겨 추방시키는 '287(g)'라는 공조 프로그램이 있음.
갈러 보안관은 이 시스템을 철저히 돌려서 범죄자들을 솎아내고 있었는데,
정작 민주당이 꽉 잡고 있는 메릴랜드주 의회는 "그거 불체자 탄압이다. 앞으로 교도소에서 그 시스템 쓰지 마라"라며 법(Community Trust Act)으로 아예 금지시키려고 판을 깐 거임.
3. 절정: 의회 쳐들어가서 민주당 면전에 박아버린 팩폭
참다못한 갈러 보안관 아재, 각 잡고 워싱턴 연방 의회 청문회장으로 뚜벅뚜벅 걸어 들어감.
그리고 민주당 의원들이 쫙 앉아있는 면전에 대고 대놓고 마이크 잡고 폭탄을 투하함.
"너네 지금 그 287(g) 프로그램 없애겠다고 발악하지? 그거 처음 법으로 만든 사람이 누구냐? 빌 클린턴이다. 그거 확대 적용해서 적극 권장한 사람은 누구냐? 버락 오바마야. 둘 다 민주당 대통령 아니었냐?"
민주당 의원들 순간 꿀먹은 벙어리행 ㅋㅋㅋ
자기네 당 레전드 대통령들이 불체자 범죄 막으려고 만든 제도를,
지금 민주당 정치인들이 PC주의 눈치 보느라 '인권 침해'라며 없애려 드는 모순을 그대로 찔러버린 거임.
갈러 보안관의 일갈은 여기서 안 끝남.
"케일라 해밀턴, 레이첼 모린. 우리 동네에서 억울하게 살해당한 이 사람들의 죽음은? 연방 이민법 하나만 제대로 지켰어도 100% 막을 수 있었던 비극이다. 죄 없는 시민들 더 피 흘리기 전에 이 미친 성역 법안 당장 집어치워라."
4. 결말: 말로 안 되니 18명이 뭉쳐서 주 정부에 맞소송
이 아재는 그냥 의회에서 말만 번지르르하게 털고 끝낸 게 아님.
메릴랜드주 전체 24개 카운티 중 무려 18명의 보안관(전체의 3분의 2)을 규합함.
그리고 메릴랜드 주 정부를 상대로 연방법원에 단체 소송을 꽂아버림.
"주 정부의 성역 법안은 미국 헌법과 연방법을 정면으로 위반하는 불법 정책이고, 우리 주민들의 목숨을 위협하는 위험한 짓거리다. 법으로 박살 내겠다."
한국으로 치면, 경기도 경찰서장 3분의 2가 모여서 "도지사랑 도의회가 만든 조례 때문에 주민들 칼맞아 죽는다"고 헌법소원 내고 의회 가서 난리 친 거나 다름없는 초유의 하극상 겸 정면충돌이 벌어진 거임.
지금 미국 전역에서는 이처럼
"불체자 인권 챙기느라 자국민 치안 내팽개치는 진보 진영의 정치적 올바름(PC) vs 더 이상 못 참겠으니 주민 지키겠다며 총대 멘 현장 법집행관들"의 살벌한 전쟁이 곳곳에서 벌어지고 있음.

[A Maryland Sheriff Just Walked into Congress and Dropped a Tactical Nuke on Democrats’ Sanctuary Policies]
Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler of Harford County, Maryland, didn’t show up to Congress to play nice or read a canned PR statement. He came to burn their talking points to the ground on live television.
For anyone who hasn’t been following the absolute mess of state vs. federal immigration law:
In deep-blue Maryland, Democratic lawmakers have been pushing hard for "sanctuary" legislation.
Their goal?
Ban local jails from cooperating with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), arguing that screening inmates "harms community trust."
Enter Sheriff Gahler.
He sat in front of Congress, looked Democrats dead in the eye, and dropped an undeniable history lesson regarding the 287(g) program—the federal agreement that lets local jails check inmate status with ICE:
"Who signed 287(g) into law? Bill Clinton.Who massively expanded it? Barack Obama.Both Democrats. And now your party is actively trying to BAN the exact tool your own presidents built."
He didn’t stop there. He brought up Kayla Hamilton (a 20-year-old disabled woman strangled in her bedroom) and Rachel Morin (a mother of five brutally murdered on a public trail).
Both horrific crimes happened in his county. Both were committed by illegal aliens who shouldn’t have been roaming free.
His words were lethal: "Their deaths were 100% preventable if federal immigration law had simply been enforced."
And this wasn't just a political soundbite.
Gahler organized 18 out of Maryland’s 24 sheriffs—two-thirds of the entire state's elected law enforcement— and filed a federal lawsuit against the state to strike down the "Community Trust Act" as unconstitutional and dangerous.
His demand was blunt: Kill these sanctuary policies before more innocent people die.
This is what happens when career politicians run into a lawman who refuses to play their game. Pure backbone.

One formula fits all of it:
Republican 2026 = 0.85 × Trump 2024
Democrat 2026 = Harris 2024 + 0.15 × Trump 2024
For every 1,000 Trump points, 850 stayed Republican. 150 landed on the Democratic side.
The numbers:
Senate: Republicans kept ~85% of Trump’s share
Governor: ~86%
Variation explained: 88%
What makes it strange:
It didn’t matter how red the state was. Wyoming, Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts: same 15% (p = 0.69). The Democratic gain was sized by Trump’s vote, not Harris’s. The Harris part is zero.
The 0.85 beat both standard election-swing models in every set of races.
Drop any single state and the multiplier stays between 0.846 and 0.853.
Why seats flipped:
At 0.85, any state where Trump got under about 58.5% falls below 50%. Texas, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio, South Carolina, North Carolina: all under that line. All flipped.
What this means:
Midterms are messy. This one isn’t. Two sets of races, different candidates, different campaigns, and the same 15% decrease almost everywhere.
A pattern this even demands answers at the ballot level: paper ballot hand counts, poll-book check-ins against votes counted, and voter files showing who actually turned out.
The numbers raise the question.
The ballots can answer it.

It's sad. I still see a lot of good people waste time and energy on them, even though they should know better.
