I am delighted and honoured to have been longlisted to become the Conservative candidate for Mayor of London in 2028. London has given me the opportunity to build a life I could once only have imagined. Having left Albania during the turmoil of 1997, I know how precious freedom, security and opportunity are. This city is my home, where I have built my career and where I am raising my children. I want to give something back to the city that has given me so much. I am standing because I believe Londoners deserve to feel safe walking home at night, to have a realistic chance of owning a home, and to rely on transport that gets them to work and back to their families. They deserve a city where hard work is rewarded, businesses can flourish and young people can see a future for themselves. Through my work in business and my time campaigning and listening to residents, I have seen both London’s extraordinary potential and the frustration when the basics fail. I want to bring that experience, determination and ambition to City Hall: backing our police, getting London building, improving our transport and championing the investment and enterprise our capital needs. As a mother, these ambitions are deeply personal. I want my children, and every child growing up here, to inherit a London that is safer, more hopeful and full of possibility. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged and supported me. There is a selection process ahead, and I look forward to earning the trust of members and sharing my vision for the city I love.
