In secondary school (more than 25 years ago...) this was my reading list for English Lit: To Kill a Mocking bird Macbeth Jude the Obscure Philadelphia, Here I Come Metaphysical Poetry Death of a Salesman The Merchant of Venice What was yours cuz I think times have changed?

Book marketing lessons 101. Likes on Tweets =/= pre-orders or sales. Everyday's a schoolday for me 😅

I don't tweet about anime much but I do wonder if these days those awesome TeamFourStar people ever toy with the idea of picking it up again and white-knuckling through a DBS Abridged arc.

I'm just excited and grateful to finally have a book coming out. It might sink without a trace and that's fine, to be honest. The dream was to acfually finish a manuscript, put my name on a real book cover, and send it out into the world, and I'm delighted with that.

Question for writers who have run the indie/self-pub gambit and also gone down thr trad / small press contract route.... What did you like and dislike about each route? #writing

I'm seeing writers and books on my TL again. What happened? Is it over? Are we back?

Got my proofs for MAW and the bloody cover is.... wrong looking. Fuck.

Buying loads of copies of your own indie book and "gifting" them unsolicited to family members at Christmas are totally legit sales, actually.

Jesus fuckin' Christ.... 😅

"You're a writer? Wow. What's that like?" "When you finish writing most of your time is spent trying to get people to look at your writing and then waiting for them to tell you what's wrong with the writing."

I'm one of those "small accounts that shout into the void" so when one of my tweets gets more than 7 likes I have to sit down and take a breath.

Hey just so you know, Darth Vader was the bad guy. Like famously the bad guy who let himself be manipulated by the literal emperor of evil. The entire hero's journey for Luke in the OT is undoing Vaders mistakes, not listening to emperor of evil, and saving his father's soul.

9 years ago: no books. No finished manuscript. No clue. No contacts. Today: 1 book. 4 finished manuscripts. 1 contract. Still no clue. Hundreds of writers and readers who've helped me along the way. Just keep going.

Can't recommend this one enough. If you like a good modern vampire x mobile underworld story and universe this one does not disappoint.

I use a lot of em dashes in my books but you can easily tell I don't use AI due to the unfortunate yet rampant inclusion of typos.

My special skill is creating new typos while I'm fixing the old typos.

Spooky season is almost over. Keep it going a tiny bit longer and check out my brand new Irish Eldritch Horror debut "MAW". Cosy small town full of secrets. Mysterious boy arrives. Talk of an imaginary friend who may not be so imaginary. Much carnage. amazon.co.uk/Maw-J-P-Stewart…
