The Government of Somaliland’s clear condemnation of attacks on Ethiopian (Oromo) nationals in Borama, along with the parallel statements from local civil society and political leaders, is the right and necessary response.
The Government of Somaliland has strongly condemned the targeting of Ethiopian nationals in Borama, stressing that those responsible must be held accountable in accordance with the law. Borama’s civil society and political leaders have also condemned ethnic violence, discrimination, and attempts to fuel tensions across borders, calling for lasting peace and stability in the region.
Their shared message reinforces a fundamental principle, no one should be targeted because of their nationality or ethnicity!!
Somaliland’s values of hospitality and peaceful coexistence must extend to everyone, our Oromo brothers and sisters deserve dignity, security, and equal protection under the law. Ethnicity must never justify discrimination or violence.

Moroccans are discovering the beauty of the blessed Republic of #Somaliland.
Will they soon share a place as Abraham Accord countries?
It's hard to believe that such a beautiful region is part of Somalia. This is truly #Somaliland, the peaceful country overlooking the Red Sea ❤️🇲🇦
The people of the Kingdom of Morocco 🇲🇦 are coming in thousands to support the Republic of #Somaliland following Somalia’s hypocrisy in violating Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Abaarso is one of Somaliland’s clearest success stories.
Founded in 2009 outside Hargeisa, Abaarso School of Science and Technology has produced the first cohorts of Somaliland students in decades to earn places at top universities - including Harvard, MIT, Yale, Brown, Columbia, and others - securing tens of millions of dollars in scholarships.
It became the only American-accredited high school in the region, operates on merit-based admissions that draw far more applicants than seats, and has expanded into the broader Abaarso Network (including Barwaaqo University, the country’s first all-women’s teachers college).
The story of #Abaarso is a success story of Somaliland. Many familiar faces here. A well-put-together documentary by #Abdi_Aa.

🚨 #BREAKING: Israel’s first-ever Ambassador to Somaliland, Michael Lotem, arrived in Hargeisa last night.
In a historic day for bilateral relations, Ambassador Lotem is scheduled to present his diplomatic credentials to President Abdirahman Irro later today.

🚨 Game changer for #Somaliland.
Newly acquired armed drones (72-hr endurance, 2,200+ km range, 500 kg payload) mean the National Defence Force can now reach Mogadishu (~850–1,000 km) and hold targets deep in the Horn at risk.
This is a major leap in deterrence and strategic defence — projecting power, securing territory, and shifting the regional balance. Strength = stability. 🟩🔳🟥

The Abraham Accords is not just an aspiration of the Republic of #Somaliland it’s a long held principle.
The Abrahamic Movement UK is getting underway. At a meeting in London attended by local leaders from the Jewish, Iranian, Somaliland and Kurdish communities, and Arab supporters of the Abraham Accords, we announced a new path: a local alternative in Britain to the extremist movements.
Our communities in Britain are suffering a complete loss of their security in the shadow of violence from extremist movements. It is not only the Jewish community that fears the rise of extremism: the Iranian opposition community, the Somaliland community, moderate Muslims, the Kurds and minorities such as the Druze and Alawites also suffer harassment and violence from incited extremists. So do Christians.
The founding of the Abrahamic Movement UK heralds a new dawn for the Abrahamic communities, a moderate alliance that will raise a new and unifying voice in Britain, an authentic voice from the Middle East that heralds Abrahamic peace and a shared vision in which there is room for everyone.
Just as important, it will create a community of communities, which will no longer feel so alone in the face of violent and extremist forces.
🚨 #Breaking - Following US and UN pulling aid and funding for the failed State of Somalia, Uganda has confirmed they have started withdrawing UPDF troops out of Somalia as their salaries will no longer be covered.

Israeli 🇮🇱 Businessman Found Dead in Addis Ababa 🇪🇹 Restaurant; Poisoning Suspected, Suspects Detained
A 48-year-old Israeli businessman identified in Israeli media reports as Rada was found dead in the restroom of a restaurant in Addis Ababa on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Ethiopian police have detained several suspects while investigating the circumstances, with possible poisoning listed among the lines of inquiry. The cause of death has not been confirmed.
Rada, who was in Ethiopia on business and was reportedly in good health with no known pre-existing conditions, had been spending the evening at the restaurant with companions. He left the table to use the restroom and did not return. After roughly 40 minutes, others searched for him and discovered his body inside a bathroom stall.
Local authorities have detained multiple suspects for questioning. Investigators are examining the possibility of poisoning, though Ethiopian and Israeli sources emphasize that this remains unconfirmed and the official cause of death is pending further examination, likely including an autopsy.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry and its embassy in Addis Ababa are in contact with the family. The ministry issued a statement expressing sorrow over the death of the Israeli citizen and extending condolences. Officials are coordinating with Ethiopian authorities to complete formalities and repatriate the body to Israel for burial as soon as possible.
The incident has been widely reported by Israeli outlets including Ynet, the Jerusalem Post, and others, as well as Ethiopian and international media. It occurs against a backdrop of ongoing security and stability challenges in parts of Ethiopia that have previously affected foreign visitors, including a March 2026 case in which another Israeli citizen died while stranded in the country amid broader regional issues. No further details on the restaurant, the identities of the detained individuals, or Rada’s full name and specific business activities have been released publicly. The investigation remains ongoing.
Reporting based on consistent accounts from Israeli, Ethiopian, and international media as of October 29, 2026. Details may be updated as authorities release additional findings.
Doctors in Somaliland remove a 3-year-old calcified fetus.
In an incredibly rare medical case, doctors in Somaliland successfully removed a 18x13cm "stone baby" (lithopedion) from a 42-year-old woman's pelvis.
The patient had suffered from abdominal pain and heaviness for three years. She recalled having pregnancy symptoms years prior that abruptly stopped, but she never sought care.
A CT scan revealed a calcified mass containing a full fetal skeleton - including a skull, spine, and limbs - formed after an undiagnosed ectopic abdominal pregnancy. Surgeons completely removed the mass. The patient has since fully recovered, ending years of chronic pain. Only ~340 such cases have ever been documented.
Somaliland Armed Forces officially launch the “Heegan 2026" live military exercises in the Maroodi Jeex region.

Former Minister Hassan is right.
Somalia’s political class and successive governments in Mogadishu have spent decades treating the reclaiming of Somaliland as a core national priority, while their own territory has remained mired in clan warfare, elite power struggles, weak institutions, corruption, and the persistent threat of Al-Shabaab.
#Somalia’s obsession with claiming #Somaliland has diverted attention from the true sources of its crises. Full Inter. recognition of Somaliland will confine the conflict to its actual boundaries and compel Mogadishu to address its own political, security, and governance failure.
A major healthcare milestone is underway in Somaliland as a massive $35 million hospital project officially commences in Burco.
Funded through a generous grant by a Sheikh from the leadership of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the project represents a landmark investment in the region's social development, public health infrastructure, and long-term economic growth.
Local administration and community figures have expressed deep gratitude to the UAE for its vital partnership, which is set to create hundreds of jobs and deliver sustainable benefits for generations to come.
