Sneak peek at a @ToonBoom rig I’m working on for an upcoming project. I’m currently working on rigging his full turnaround and then I’ll add a mouth pack to wrap him up.
Rigged and animated in #ToonBoomHarmony 24.

glad Coyote vs Acme will come out, but I still don't get why so many people online only talked about The Day The Earth Blew Up as a bargaining chip, like "fiiine we'll go see this one because then maybe they'll release the other one"
Preview of a scene I'm #animating for the @Clenchport animated series I co-created with @Imagine2Create!

‼️THE NEXT #IndieAnimationDay IS NOVEMBER 16TH!! ‼️
ONE MONTH AWAY!!
What will you be sharing the next IAD or what are you excited to see? 👀💛
Getting back into working on personal #animation projects this weekend! Here’s a multiplane camera test I did in @ToonBoom Harmony for a side project I’m working on. Used my Norm rig as a stand in! He won’t be the main character for these shorts but he may cameo! #indieanimation
Shoutout to my friend Maggie Smith who did the beautiful background art! She’s also working on the pilot for the @Clenchport series I’m developing with @Imagine2Create. Such an honor to be supported by such amazing talent!

Riding the #FlixBus home today so of course I have this amazing @Sbassbear song on repeat. These @GameGrumps remixes never fail to make me crack up. youtu.be/jW9HMpCE7xM?si=cada…
Went and saw the Coraline 15th Anniversary screening on Sunday… for some strange reason the 3D effects weren’t registering.
How is that even possible?! I thought the whole point of 3D glasses is you put them on and that creates the effect…
But apparently the projector wasn’t working correctly and that’s why the 3D glasses weren’t registering the effect. So strange. I thought the 3D glasses WERE the effect but I guess I’m wrong on that 🤷♂️

More very lively rigged animation. It’s all great but check out the stuff around 1:30. It’s very dynamic, everything that rigged animation supposedly “can’t do”. You aren’t just setting a couple of keys and hitting “tween” with this sort of show. youtu.be/70aTFFxIox8?feature…

Here’s another good example of well done rigged animation, done in Moho! I wonder how many of the self proclaimed “animation experts” who claim that rigged animation always “looks inferior” to hand drawn knew how much of this movie was made using rigs. youtu.be/eyvqdcGGing?si=vvaX…

TL:DR: animation using rigs is anything but “automated”, despite what certain “animation experts” may claim. You have to think and work like an animator and use the same exact principles of animation that exist in hand drawn to get good or even halfway decent results.

For rigged animation, you do the same thing. You have to tell the software exactly what you want in order to get good results. You add breakdowns and favors and eases and don’t just accept the crummy first pass result the software gives you. You are still the one in control.

In hand drawn, you would add breakdown drawings and then chart a scene, showing what the timing and spacing should be before it’s handed off to an assistant.

The computer is a terrible inbetweener. It creates linear inbetweens that just take an object from point A to point B. The hand drawn equivalent is handing a scene off to an assistant, with no breakdowns, and telling them to space every drawing evenly. You’d get the same result.
