The future of #ArtificialIntelligence is not pre-determined. As a technology developed by human beings, its future depends on the choices we make. We therefore have the responsibility to guide, change and, when necessary, reject its applications. A reliable system that serves the human person is of greater value than one that is exceptionally powerful but whose consequences cannot be adequately foreseen or controlled.

.@willob of @ulyssesinc joins @sacca and me for a pint to discuss how subsea robotics is unlocking Earth’s last frontier. We talk about the physical constraints of operating 1,500 meters underwater, why seagrass holds 20% of the ocean’s carbon, how green tape hinders environmental restoration, and why hard tech startups are verticalising hardware manufacturing. (Plus, Will's interesting Guinness history facts.)

A Garda witness has confirmed that Riad Bouchaker (Parnell School stabbing) has never worked in Ireland.
He came here circa 2000 and was awarded Irish citizenship despite never being engaged in gainful employment.

Intelligence must draw on memory. The mind must not simply compile data — as an algorithm now does more quickly than we can — but recall lived experiences, which contain depths of meaning that only the human soul can recognize, and connect more deeply with the goodness of these experiences. Everything that is good begins “with the Spirit” and thus possesses a breath, a dynamism and a sense of communion that, once experienced, are engraved upon the heart. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

The so-called first AI to "pass the video Turing test" just miserably failed each one of my extremely simple Turing tests.
Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test.
48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video.
It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard.

I just asked Fianna Fáil Minister Dara Calleary if broken political promises count as misinformation, such as when Micheál Martin said he wouldn't go into coalition with Fine Gael. Video coming soon on @griptmedia.

Today marks the Catholic Feast of The Holy Rosary and the anniversary of the pivotal (for Europe) victory of the Battle of Lepanto, 1571. Probably one of the most singularly significant battles in all of European history. When I was at secondary school in the West of Ireland, we had to study and learn to recite parts of GK Chesterton’s poem ‘Lepanto’, it made quite an impression.

The idea of humanity as a bootloader for machine superintelligence was dreamed up in the 1990s by a guy taking tons of speed, doing occult rituals, and actively rooting for an alien machine god to arrive on earth and make humans obsolete. His name is Nick Land.
He is most famous as the godfather of accelerationism, a favorite of many technologists. He also helped create the concept of hyperstition: using symbol and narrative to meme self-fulfilling prophecies into reality by getting enough people to believe in them.
Even the anti-accelerationists mostly spread doomer narratives. It's time for better hyperstitions: more stories about pro-human, positive-sum coevolution alongside machine intelligence. And maybe more of the original technology for calling things in: prayer.

My book on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, published in 2022, ended with the point that intelligence assets engaged in blackmail, like Epstein, are no longer needed (and thus became expendable) because the surveillance state can retrieve blackmail directly from your devices or plant incriminating material on them.
Four years later, they are just saying it out in the open.

Day 8:
Total silence from mainstream media & politicians on the latest Dublin social-housing statistics.
Did you know:
There are 61,719 households on Ireland's social housing list.
In 2019, 508 households were recorded as "refugees"
In 2025 this number sky-rocketed to 3,193.
Thats an increase of 529%!!
But the “refugee” category doesn’t tell the full story either...
If it did then the 1,320 Somali applicants on DCCs list would be 41% of that national "refugee" figure.
This couldn't be right.
There are many ways to get onto the housing list. Nationality and immigration status measure different things.
In order for Ireland's high welfare State to function with high trust, the public must have full transparency of all data.
Its the job of our media & opposition to demand this.
The co-ordination to totally ignore these latest figures is jaw-dropping.
Day 7:
Still no mainstream coverage of new Dublin City Housing statistics.
Yet just two months ago, Simon Harris spoke to journalists directly on this.
He called claims that non-Irish applicants get social housing first “disinformation”:
“It’s disinformation. It’s unhelpful, unfair and untrue.”
“I don’t see the benefit in nationality as an instrument.”
“Can you provide any evidence, or can anybody provide any evidence, that people of different nationalities to Irish people are getting a home quicker than an Irish person…? I’d really welcome that.”
… any chance the establishment would like to revisit this in light of fact that 9% of the housing list is Somalian
Or that 1 in 3 houses is are going to non-Irish?
