The toughest decisions in sport. One of your greats wants to continue to play, but you need to rebuild for the future. It's not fair to ask the player to retire if they want to play on, but retaining them at a high price for diminished value and a limited future window does not work for the franchise. In most cases fans and media blame the management, but they have to take tough decisions for the longer term. It happened with Lebron James, its happening with Jimmy Anderson, and it has happened with more than one IPL team.
England legend James Anderson bids goodbye to Lancashire after the club opted to not offer him a new contract for the 2027 season.

No one has any idea what was being offered or being asked, let’s wait for his version and Lancs story.

Mike Atherton did not apply for a visa to commentate in the upcoming tri-series in Pakistan. He did not intend to go to Pakistan due it being a busy winter for him where he will be commentating on other series #Cricket #PAKvENG #PAKvSL

When they actually bowl the first ball I’ll believe it
"They have very unique challenges, and I hope through ICC and others we can find a way through." The ECB will consider stepping in to fund the women's Test scheduled to be played in the Caribbean next year | @GeorgeDobell1 thecricketer.com/Topics/ecb-…

Of course he fails to mention that Glos Lost more matches than Lancs, finished below Lancs and got no where near the knockouts of the one day cup without even losing that many players.
Won more matches than affluent @lancscricket & reached the @VitalityBlast QFs out of the hardest. With 7 bowlers leaving (bar Price no one pulled up any trees) was also going to be a difficult season especially with long term injuries & illnesses to key players. Judge after 2027!

Now as a Yorkshire supporter I’m pleased to hear it, but… doesn’t seem like things are being applied consistently here. I’d like to see them publish a full explanation of why this pitch didn’t receive a sanction and Leics’ did, as both exhibited inconsistent bounce from day 1

And with that Middlesex win, all the places for next year are decided. Kent will go up to Division 1
Replying to @JackRuleLD
Div 2 It’s essentially a two horse race between Kent and Northants for the last spot and to join Durham in Division 1 next season - Northants & Kent Win- Northants need 5+ more BPs than Kent for Promotion - Kent win & Northants Draw / Lose- Kent Promoted

And That’s it, Warwickshire are a county Champions 2026 Somerset can not do anything to overtake them.
Done some back of the envelope crunching of some numbers & these are what I believe the final round permutations to be (caveat without any random point deductions) The ball is very much in Warkwickshire court. Warks Win Championship is there’s regardless of other results

For those following the chase We are now at the stage that Somerset have to win And Warwickshire have to lose for Somerset to take the title Warwickshire can draw now and still take the title.

The bonus point for Essex, now means that Leicestershire are relegated and Essex are safe (Assuming their appeal against points deduction is unsuccessful)
Replying to @JackRuleLD
The relegation battle is between Essex & Leicestershire, with it all needed to go right for the foxes to stay up To stay up Leicestershire need all 3 things to happen - Win against Warkwickshire - Essex get beaten by Glamorgan - Leicestershire score 4+ more BPs than Essex
