2,100+ tokens/sec per user on DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, at full model quality, on 8× AMD Instinct MI355X. 🚀
Congrats to @lithos_ai on pushing the frontier of inference with persistent megakernels on AMD. Open hardware + instruction-level control = room to innovate.
2,100+ tokens per second per user on DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, at full model quality, on eight AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs.
In our benchmarks, the Lithos engine delivers:
→ Up to 3.4× faster inference for DeepSeek V4.1 Flash
→ Up to 2.5× faster inference for Kimi K3
Compared with tested open-source engines on the same eight GPUs.
The key challenge is reducing the coordination tax: time spent waiting between kernels and across GPUs. Our approach combines persistent megakernels, overlapping execution, and communication inside computation.
Our technical deep dive covers:
- Decode speed, cost per token, and latency up to 1M context.
- How Lithos engine reduces launch overhead and overlap computation with communication across GPUs.
- How MI355X’s register capacity and direct instruction-level control enable hardware-specific optimizations.
- What our roofline analysis reveals about opportunities for further speedups.

Optimizing local inference for ultra-low latency is both easier and harder than optimizing for a cloud service.
The unavoidable hardware variety, memory constraints, and thermal throttling automatically make each optimization more complicated.
But knowing which challenges to tackle first is easier because you’re dealing with users who:
1) know exactly what they’re looking for from inference performance for their setup and
2) are predisposed to build in the open and share their findings
Here’s how we know: @JiaZhihao announced that we were open-sourcing lithos-metal, our local inference engine for Apple silicon, 5 days ago.
In that time, we’ve made a ton of progress because everyone who let us know they tried lithos-metal (or even just explored the code or blog) gave us the platonic ideal of technical feedback: immediate, specific, actionable.
Thanks to all of you who shared your questions and suggestions, including insights into your actual use cases and testing approach. Our day job is still primarily building ultra low-latency agent infrastructure on standard GPUs, but it’s important to us to keep lithos-metal going and build the community.
Internally, we talk a lot about taking a co-design approach to AI efficiency. That means simultaneously thinking about how the hardware and software layers impact each other. Only focusing on one area for improvement leaves performance gains on the table.
That logic applies to where your inference engine lives, too. Whether it’s in the cloud, on-prem, or on your laptop, we’re excited to keep working to solve agent latency for our users.

Three models, three #1 spots on @ArtificialAnlys: Kimi K3, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, and GLM-5.3-Flash. 🚀
Together with LithosBox, we’re accelerating the full agent loop with the fastest inference and sandbox execution. Try @lithos_ai on your workloads!
Another day, another LithosAI launch, and another #1 spot on @ArtificialAnlys benchmarks for inference output speed and end-to-end latency.
That’s 3 for 3: LithosAI has the fastest inference for Kimi K3, DeepSeek V4.1-Flash, and now GLM 5.3 Flash.
Combine that with LithosBox, the ultra-fast agent sandboxes we just launched, and our users can significantly speed up the agent loop. Get started with our public API.
Cool stuff!
We build KCoral 🪸 to make GPU access a service for kernel agents. As kernel generation and RL training scale, giving each agent a GPU wastes capacity; leaving agents to coordinate sharing adds work and risks unreliable benchmarks.
Agents submit work as needed, and KCoral handles scheduling and isolation—keeping GPUs productive and performance feedback reliable.

Today, LithosAI is launching a public preview of LithosBox: ultra fast versioned sandboxes that your agents can snapshot, fork, and restore in milliseconds.
So far, we've been focused on providing ultra-low latency inference for open models like Kimi K3, DeepSeek V4.1, and GLM 5.3 Flash (stay tuned!). Now, we're giving agents runtime and post-training environments with Git-like control.
With LithosBox, agents can:
→ spin up, branch, and snapshot thousands of environments as they explore multiple paths forward
→ decide on a winner and rebuild the winning state
→ then throw away the environments they don't need, all in milliseconds
@dimitriosSkar, @JiaZhihao, and the rest of our team put together this agent vs. agent showdown with Doom so you can see how LithosAI helps your agents run 5x faster with AI serving infrastructure co-designed for ultra-low latency across inference and execution environments.
In our demo, the agent completes its entire run 5.29x faster with LithosBox and Lithos DeepSeek V4.1 Flash inference than it does with leading sandbox and inference providers.
Try LithosBox for free for up to two weeks via our public API.

🧱 Minimal stable low-level compiler foundation for predictable GPU programming
🔍 Domain-specific compiler analysis to guide debugging and optimization
📚 Kernel zoo of 60+ kernels and hardware specs to reuse strategies and discover new ones
📊 Remote GPU evaluation for reliable benchmarks and profiling
Agent-built Kimi Delta Attention kernels achieved geometric-mean speedups of 2.94x over FlashKDA (forward) and 6.84x over FLA (backward).
Our bet: the next leap in agentic GPU programming will come from engineering the environment agents optimize in.

🍰 CAKE paper's out, the design bet: the compiler isn't a fixed black box the agent calls — it's part of the harness, and it's under evolution too.
CAKE didn't inherit existing abstraction layer. no tile/layout abstractions: the vocabulary was distilled by agents from a corpus of production kernels. every pattern the agent couldn't express pushed new primitives into the IR, and the analyses to keep them checkable. every barrier/layout bug that kept coming back became a verifier rule.
none of this can be designed up front. the IR has to co-evolve with the kernels, and the workload tells you what's missing, the corpus tells you if the fix broke anything.
the best language for an agent is the one that tells you what's illegal, what's slow, and which decision might made it faster.
