Lo scambio prevederebbe di una vasta gamma di dati personali: nomi, numeri di identificazione, localizzazioni, informazioni genetiche e biometriche, e molto altro, tra cui dettagli sulle opinioni politiche personali, sulla salute delle persone, sulle relazioni e persino sull'orientamento sessuale.
Secondo Eitan Diamond, giurista intervistato da Novara Media, “i dati trasferiti potrebbero essere usati come intelligence per supportare decisioni mirate ad attaccare e uccidere palestinesi”.
Già nel 2022, la Commissione europea e Israele avevano firmato una bozza di accordo sullo scambio di dati con Europol dopo quattro anni di trattative segrete.
Ai tempi il Servizio giuridico del Consiglio dell’Unione Europea aveva bocciato la bozza, definendola “giuridicamente insostenibile” e rilevando che alcune sue disposizioni erano in “contrasto con il diritto europeo e internazionale”.
Nonostante ciò, la Commissione ha proseguito i negoziati con Tel Aviv in gran segreto. Documenti ottenuti da Statewatch rivelano che tra il gennaio 2023 e il gennaio 2026 si sono tenuti almeno sette incontri tra funzionari della Commissione e diplomatici israeliani.
E oggi, con un genocidio in corso a Gaza e con la violenza dei coloni che aumenta, non solo l’UE non pensa minimamente a sanzionare Israele ma tratta in segreto per scambiare con Tel Aviv dati sensibili dei cittadini europei.
