Scandinavian Prospect Breakdown part 1
In this thread I will break down the overall growth of these four nations, considering their results in FIBA Summer Youth Competitions and the upside of their top prospects.
1. Denmark 🇩🇰
Top Prospect: Gustav Drejer
Overall Growth: Medium/High - Positive
Results:
U20: 16th / Div. B
U18: 12th / Div. A
U16: 10th / Div. B
Denmark Basketball movement is one of the fastest rising in Europe, producing multiple high level prospects with exceptional physical profiles for every level, especially in the younger categories, and is a country that has no fear launching young guys in the Senior NT, like Rimdal, Moller brothers, Drejer brothers and the older Uagboe. 2006 generation features a couple of supersized players, 7'3 C/F Marcus Moller and 6'9 W/G Frederik Drejer, with other solid guys that can reach the Senior NT in the next couple of years, like Ogbemudia Uagboe or Willas Moller. 2007 has produced a couple of good players, too, like Noah Norgaard, Juust Dalgaard and other role players like Theodor Kattenhoj, Frederik Stie and Viggo Rimdal. 2008 generation got an unexpected 12th place in Div. A, with only 1 win but competing hard vs Serbia, Israel and Lithuania, with sized forwards and bigs like Laurits Bomholt, Jordan Ulrich, Sebastian Kouakou or crafty guards in Artohengbe Uagboe, Oskar Skaaning or Oskar Ostoft. 2009 generation features an NBA prospect in Gustav Drejer and a couple of key players in this U18 playing underage, like Bob da Silva and Lucas Troels-Smith. U16 had 4 win but ended 17th, without his star August Moller, but relying on the talent of PG Rumle Laulund, Marcus Helweg and bigs Victor Borges and Visti Thomsen.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11) 🇸🇰
1. Gustav Drejer, 6'9 G, '09, BAXI Manresa
2. August Moller, 6'11 F, '10, Falcon Copenaghen
3. Marcus Moller, 7'3 C/F, '06, Michigan
4. Frederik Drejer, 6'9 W, '06, Radford
5. Noah Norgaard, 6'2 PG, '07, UNC Greensboro
3. Finland
Top Prospect: Miikka Muurinen
Overall Growth: Medium - Positive
Results:
U20: N/A
U18: 14th / Div. B
U16: 9th / Div. B
Finland didn't have the most exciting summer in terms of results, but relies on the fact that has multiple NBA prospect with impressive size/skillset relations. '06 generation has 3 players that can potentially enter the Senior NT in the next few years, strong do-it-all wing Aaron Ekwere, who dominated U20 EYBL, scoring small guard Elmeri Abbey and big man Olavi Suutela. '07 has a true NBA prospect, still regarded as a lottery one by multiple sites, in Miikka Muurinen, despite his extra-court limits, and another complete guard/wing in Samu Adler, both with at least a presence in the Senior NT. '08 has probably the point guard of the future, in competition with Miro Little, that is Reino Saivosalmi, great scorer and floor general at 6'2, and an upside 6'10 big in Amani Haruna. 2009 class is weak in my opinion, the weakest, with PG Santeri Manninen and off guard Valtter Varila. 2010 has a spectacular couple of NBA prospects in Joseph Tala and Noah Santos, who already plays in America, 6'9 wings/forwards with athleticism and skillset, featured by a bunch of relevant role players like forward Yakuba Haruna, sized PG Paavo Kemppinen, 6'6 wing Milton Ekholm, forward Elias Ahola and 7-footer Ben van der Starre. '11 prospect Nyuol Machol completes the field as one of the guys with the highest upside in his class in all of Europe.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11)
1. Miikka Muurinen, 7'0 F, '07, Arkansas
2. Joseph Tala, 6'9 F, '10, Drive Academy FIN
3. Noah Santos, 6'9 W, '10, Expression Prep
4. Nyuol Machol, 6'7 W, '11, Vaasan Salama
5. Samu Adler, 6'6 W, '07, Butler
4. Iceland
Top Prospect: Atli Haraldsson
Overall Growth: Medium - Positive
Results:
U20: 2nd / Div. B
U18: 15th / Div. B
U16: 2th / Div. B
Iceland is developing a very good field of young prospect, maybe the most in the forward position, but with different skillsets. '06 generation pushed the 300k citizens nation to a promotion in U20A, led by 2 forwards, 6'7 Magnus Svansson and 6'8 Viktor Ludviksson, strong rebounders and finishers, and 3 guards, 6'4 Lars Bragason, 6'2 Asmundur Armannsson and 5'11 Birgir Halldorsson. '07 class features Logi Gudmunsson, already committed to Chaminade, and guards Kristofer Bjorgvinsson and Magni Thor Grissom. 2008 generation has the future starting PG in 6'3 Jakob Leifsson, with other 2 wings in Patrik Birmingham and number 4 Sturla Bodvarsson. 2009 has one of the top 3 Icelandic prospect in big wing Benoni Andrason, standing at 6'6, and shooting off guard Daniel Snorrason, 6'3. 2010 again finished 2nd gaining another promotion to Division A, led by 6'8 wing Atli Haraldsson, dirty work and finishing forward Kormakur Jack, small PG David Antonsson and 6'8 rebounder and shot blocker Jon Sigurdarson.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11)
1. Atli Haraldsson, 6'8 W, '10, Valur Reykjavik
2. Benoni Andrason, 6'7 W/F, '09, DME Academy
3. Viktor Ludviksson, 6'8 F, '06, Stjarnan
4. Logi Gudmunsson, 6'6 W, '07, Chaminade

Top Prospect: Benjamin Kuranovic
Overall Growth Rate: Small/Medium - Positive
Results:
U20: N/A
U18: 13th / Div. A
U16: 12th / Div. B
Austria had the possibilities to build a sized and competitive team for FIBA U20, with a great '06 group with 3 players that were key pieces for Senior National Team in Fynn Schott, Benjamin Schuch and Nico Zeleznik. U18 team was seen as the main candidate for relegation by the majority of experts, but led by his dynamic guards beat Latvia to secure another year in U18 Division A, with '08 group that once again will bring multiple players in the Senior NT. U16 wasn't as successful but showed a group of intriguing role players like top-scorer Markus Iancu, big man Kester Bijor and underage players Horace Akanati-Palt and Aidan Wheeler.
Benjamin Kuranovic, 2010-born forward who plays for FCN Wels is the best prospect, a number 3 that combines shooting potential, size, use of strength and overall court feel, potentially an Euroleague player with High Major upside. Played in U18 with other 3 intriguing players in Pierce Thompson, Lenny Benczak and Armin Kapic.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11) 🇦🇹

Czechia faced multiple years without producing notable prospects, years of transition from Vesely/Satoransky's generation, completed by great role players in Kyzlink, Hruban, Auda, Balvin and Peterka, with the lone exception in Vit Krejci, the only Czech NBA player and already 26 y/o. Until this year, Czechia was a relevant presence in U20 Division A, before falling this year in the 13/14th game against an horrific but more talented Italy. Shot creating lead guard Lukas Smazak, 2007-born, was the top scorer and undoubted leader of a team that featured some potential role players in Viktor Ivanek, Jakub Soldan, Sebastian Kremen or Vojtech Synacek, but no other stuff, without 6'9 forward Nikos Koulisianis, Furman commit. U18 was a success, with the only miss of a promotion in Division A with high possibilities of a confirm in 2027, considering the exceptional level of 2009 group. 2008 too, is a strong group especially for big men, with 6'9/6'10 centers Ondrej Pospichal and Krystof Davidek, high potential Liga U22 forward Samuel Nohel and shooting specialist Aleksandr Krob. 2009 is the best group, this year featuring 6'10 forward Matej Buben, 6'7 wing Jakub Chaloupka and 6'8 PG Marek Houska, potentially an NBA player in my opinion. Missing the 2 Columbus HS 7-footers in 7'2 F/C Martin Sibal and 7'1 C/F Martin Simko, a couple of high level bigs that few other team had in the past (i remember only Ivisic-s' Croatia). U16 was successful too, playing in a competitive group and destroying Italy 2 times: Matej Snobl, 2011-born PG was exceptional playing underage, Jan Kopecky was the leader, with other run n'gun guard/wings in Kudela, Kubjat, Ptacek, Dalecky and Cech. I think in 7/8 years with this group of guys, Czechia will compete again for Top 8 in Senior Eurobasket and becoming a steady presence at FIBA World Cup

Overall Growth: Little decline - Negative

U20: 8th / Div. B
U18: 5th / Div. B
U16: 15th / Div. B
Hungary's level is declining a bit, comparing to previous years, in a situation when almost every NT has a standout prospect, the Magyars have only a bunch of good players but not a future star like Adam Hanga or Zoltan Perl. 2007 generation is one of the strongest groups, 6th last year in U18 and as underage leaders 8th this year in U20, with guys like Zalan Flasar, Peter Rosta, Gabor Lukacsi, Csongor Gal and Mark Mezofi. U18, too, did a very good tournament, finishing 5th with only a loss to stronger Belgium. Squad wasn't the most talented, but able to play and defend effectively together, led by 6'8 F Miklos Asztalos with some interesting 09s in Mark Szafko, Vince Gaspar and Zeteny Kurfis. Despite bad results, U16 roster featured 2 of the best 4 prospects for Hungarian basketball right now, 6'9 F Bence Pecsi and 6'5 G ('11) Zeteny Bajor, with also other productive guards in Mate Szollosi, Nandor Cseczei and '11-born Mark Szabo Haklits, a dominator in Italian U15 Ecc.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11) 🇭🇺
1. Bence Pecsi, 6'9 F, '10, Honved
2. Peter Rosta, 6'10 F, '07, Blair Academy
3. Zalan Flasar, 6'9 F/C, '07, Rice

Top Prospect: Aike Dzacar
Overall Growth: Small/Medium - Positive
Results:
U20: 19th / Div. B
U18: 15th / Div. A
U16: 10th / Div. B
Slovakia has never been a basketball country, but in the recent years some interesting prospects came out, like 2004-born Timotej Malovec, already leader of Senior NT and 2005-born and potential NBA player Sebastian Rancik. 2006 group was a hole, with only a few notable wings in Martin Chlupis and Martin Pospisil. 2007 isn't a deep class, but produced 2 of the bigs of the future of Slovakian NT in Maros Golian and Thomas Stanko, big guard Martin Minarovjech, with also a couple of role players in Mojmir Deen and Karlis Azacis. 2008 is the best generation, that went relegated in FIBA U18 but had different notable prospects in Bruno Randuska, Lukas Kubala and wings like Matus Gregor, Samuel Kokavec and Adam Pukancik. 2009 group is a weaker one, with the lone Matus Rybar, while 2010 features the athletic power of Aike Dzacar, with other 2 guards in Patrik Paska and PG Erik Licko, and power forward ('11-born) Alex Ksinan.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11) 🇸🇰
1. Aike Dzacar, 6'5 G, '10, Baylor School
2. Bruno Randuska, 6'5 CG, '08, Inter Bratislava
3. Maros Golian, 6'10 C, '07, Inter Bratislava
4. Martin Minarovjech, 6'9 G, '07, Lamar
5. Lukas Kubala, 6'9 F, '08, Dubai Basketball
I think height is with shoes, but there are crazy numbers, Yahya Basaran is 7'2 like Mohamed Samba and Martin Simko, Martin Sibal is 7'3, Darius Karutasu is 6'10.5, Jokubas Kukta 6'6, Lapo Santini 6'10.5, Angolan Jose Dias is 7'2, Marek Houska ≈ 6'9, Miguel Sousa ≈ 7'0

Someone asked me a way too early prediction for the U19 FIBA World Cup 2027 that will be in Pardubice, Czechia.
African and Asian teams have to play their Continental competition yet, so I try to predict.
Asia I think will bring China, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, while Africa Ivory Coast and Senegal
Other qualified teams are: USA, Canada, Puerto Rico and Brazil for America and Germany, Slovenia, Spain, France, Italy and Czechia for Europe. On my evaluation I assume that Yimga, Joksimovic and Houindo will be drafted.
1. USA
2. Canada
3. France
4. Germany
5. Spain
6. Brazil
7. Italy
8. Australia
9. Slovenia
10. New Zealand
11. Puerto Rico
