MTD thresholds are based on gross qualifying income — what you invoice, not what lands in your pocket after the band's cut.
Invoice £60k for gigs, pay the band £40k, keep £20k? HMRC's number is £60k. That's already over the April 2026 threshold (£50k), and April 2027 catches everyone over £30k.
