Nashville, COVID-19 is on the rise again. Thankfully antibodies from vaccine/boost or infection are effective against it. If you or someone you live with are at high risk, it would be wise to wear a mask in public places. Like before, we've got this!

Why would SCOTUS exempt military academies from its affirmative action ruling? So racial representation matters in our fighting forces but not in healthcare workforce? Is this a constitutional mandate? thehill.com/homenews/house/4…

Kudos to @VUMCDiscoveries, @Vanderbilthealth, & @DrWinkfield for highlighting @mvalliance’s work to eliminate health disparities by expanding community-engaged research initiatives to improve equity & access to care for all #StartsInAcademicMedicine ow.ly/K7wZ50ONrIh
Until and unless racism is not an issue in US, affirmative action will be required for all of us to have equitable access to higher education and healthcare. There may come a time when racism is ended, but that time is not now and today's SCOTUS ruling is premature.
Excited to give commencement address to class of 2023 at NYU School of Global Public Health today. Thanks to Dean Debra Furr-Holden for invitation and great hospitality. Meharry is excited to partner with Dean Furr-Holden & team in launching our school of global public health.
Great meeting today with Kimberly Godwin, president of ABC News and Eric Strauss, medical unit director, to share Meharry's story and our work to end health disparities. Ms Godwin, FAMU alum, is clearly proud of her HBCU roots.
I hope this letter from Congress to LCME leaders does not mean that accreditation of medical education in the U.S. is now in the realm of politics. If true, the health of nation may suffer. edworkforce.house.gov/upload…
I really enjoyed gala celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Meharry's School of Graduate Studies with current dean Dr Merry Lindsey and former dean Dr Maria Lima. Amazing legacy of training minority scientists, public health professionals, and now physician assistants.
