Not a guy I’d be interested in re-signing. He’s been a Flame for ~1.5 seasons and no one has any idea what type of player he is. Shows flashes but is just so inconsistent. Nothing particularly special vs the contract he’s going to want in a slim UFA centre market.

Moving him at the deadline is perfect since Reschny will be joining the team shortly after that. You can run Backlund - Reschny - Castagna - Pospisil in whatever order next year and if you want to re-sign Strome for a year or two as extra insurance, why not.
