Lula’s victory will be greeted with horror in Silicon Valley. Outside the EU, Brazil has been the biggest holders to account of US tech firms. And Facebook’s actions before the election deserve proper scrutiny
My Uncle Jim invented and patented "Neverlick", a box which moistened envelopes so you didn't have to lick them. It was a brilliant invention, but alas, almost exactly coincided with the arrival of self-sealing envelopes and he therefore didn't make his millions.
I @realDonaldTrump can confirm that none of my uncles invented radar nor cheated at golf nor ..... !

I doubt if Restore's membership claims have been independently checked, or that they would stand up to much scrutiny if they were. The alternative interpretation is that Restore has more members than voters, which wouldn't be any better for it.

Congratulations to Lula on his extraordinary reelection victory in the Brazilian presidential election.
Lula has stood up for Brazilian workers & democracy — and will continue to do so in the next four years.
So basically you're now a stenographer for the far-right, Andrew?

Important evidence of rape and other sexual violence by Israelis against Palestinian civilians collected by Professor @maynard_nick and his colleagues, detailed, evidence-heavy peer reviewed paper published @bmj_latest
Please read and share this article from *The BMJ* on *"Sexual violence against Palestinians". It’s difficult reading, but must be shared. Five doctors and legal scholars examine the evidence and call for independent investigations and accountability.

I’m working on an article to explain why I believe the UK and Irish governments are telling households to stockpile water and food that doesn’t require electricity.
TL;DR: I believe governments are preparing to prioritise AI data centres over their own citizens.
The electricity consumption figures and government policies point to a serious problem. Both countries are preparing households for prolonged power outages while giving energy hungry AI data centres preferential treatment.
Are these warnings really about extreme weather, or do governments already know their electricity grids won’t be able to cope with the expansion of AI data centres?
“Be ready by having some everyday essentials… three litres of water per person per day, tinned goods... to last a few days”
Speaking to @vicderbyshire, Defence Secretary Wes Streeting details advice to households to be prepared for a “dangerous and turbulent world”.

Nobody hacked Dan Hodges' account when he said Palestinian children should go to hell.
He is just a disgusting racist who thinks little kids should go to hell if they're Palestinian.
Toddlers.
Babies.
Wailing newborns.
There are no words to describe this evil.
Yes, it was famously called the Far Left National Socialist Party.
In all seriousness, when will these people get it through their heads that the word "socialist" was wildly popular in those days so people on the far right simply appropriated it?

feels like there's kind of an elephant in the room with this map but I can't quite put my finger on it
Also on the subject of the "Northern Olympics", this is an example of Burnham's "North" obsession actually being rather helpful because it should guarantee there is no English Olympics circus for many decades to come. The IOC would consider London but no other UK city.
As everyone knows what Andy Burnham means by "the North", I can't stop laughing at his comment that "the whole country" would be behind a "Northern Olympics", from "north to south". In other words, Scotland would not be behind it because we are outside the "north to south" zone.

The tectonic plates shift. From this point on, anyone who supports British control of the Falklands is officially Hamas. Nicole Lampert, Margaret Hodge and Simon Schama will shortly travel to Port Stanley, sorry I mean Puerto Argentino, to plant the Argentinian flag.
Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israel to support Argentina over the Falklands, The Telegraph can reveal.
The Israeli prime minister told diplomats to change his country’s official position and join Buenos Aires in calling for direct talks over the future of the islands.

Mounting evidence that the SNP would be serious about using a hung parliament to get an independence referendum - but here's why that isn't sufficient as a strategy:

Perhaps the most stark and revealing (accidental?) admission in the David Bell 'antisemitism in UK schools report. Antisemitic attitudes aren't increasing, only anti-Israel ones are. That's what most of this is about.

Scotland is an amazing Nation, their inventions changed the world, they have world class universities, their whisky and salmon industries are the envy of the world, have the cleanest water but most amazingly they have oil that can suddenly regenerate itself on a Westminster whim.
