(907) If you aren't accidentally lighting up your own teammates at least once a mission, are you even playing a co-op shooter? xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1DGLdZrBB…
Thanks to everyone who came by today during the stream was fun. Did some Emberville Unbalanced Hardmode.
Hi @SIRIUSXM, I've updated your Windows app for you. 😂
The original was running Electron 16.0.6. I rebuilt it on Electron 44.7.0.
Same web player. Same desktop app. A much newer Electron runtime.
You're welcome. 💀

Lastly, using a 1440P OLED HDR monitor still cracking triple-digit fps in @GearsofWar E-Day with max settings and DLAA. Even turned on all the mega texture stuff and stranded hair.
I am using a Workstation RTX card, not a Gaming card. The game feels pretty optimized.
Played some @GearsofWar E-Day with the boys Co-OP; other than some cutscene jank things, which isn't a deal breaker. It feels so good.
Honestly, the only thing I would change about the game is more cosmetic; I like the previous Gears Perfect Reload bar animation better.
100% feels like a Gears game; honestly, it feels more like the Gears were the resistance. Secondly, this is how I remember the first 1-3 games, even though they are not as technically dense as this.
How do you all handle community games? Personally, I don't stream with random people who aren't streamers themselves when we play multiplayer games.
You can't really control what comes out of someone's mouth, so if you're invited into a stream, do you just say and curse however you normally would, or do you respect that you're being invited into someone's stream and treat it as a privilege to play with them?
Holy fuck, this Microsoft patent is seriously disturbing.
Credit to @GamersNexus for bringing this to light. I went through the details, and the part that gets me isn't simply “Microsoft wants to put ads in games.”
It's what the proposed system actually needs to do to make that possible.
The patent describes a content-management system that can sit between your input and the application, analyze screen/video information, audio, application/game state and inputs, and determine when to interrupt you with advertising.
It even discusses player/chat commentary and communication through things like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct.
That isn't just an ad system. That's surveillance being wrapped in corporate language like “contextually aware promoted content.”
And then there's the credit system: watch ads, earn credits, get a limited amount of time to use the software/game.
I already bought the hardware. I bought the game. I may already be paying for the service.
Now you want to watch what I'm doing, listen to what's happening, analyze my behavior, interrupt my experience with ads, and potentially use that information to make the advertising more valuable?
At what point does the customer stop being the customer and become the product?
I don't care if this is “just a patent” right now. A patent isn't proof that Microsoft has deployed this, and I'm not claiming that it has.
I'm saying the fact that someone at Microsoft thought this was worth designing and patenting is fucking alarming.
This is corporate spyware as an advertising concept, and I want absolutely nothing to do with it.

One thing I left out of the original post: this isn't actually limited to games.
The patent repeatedly uses the term “interactive software application” rather than “video game,” and that distinction is important.
The language is broad enough to potentially cover things like creative software, productivity applications, browsers, and other interactive software.
That's what makes this even more concerning to me. We're not necessarily talking about an advertising system confined to games. The concept is broad enough to apply across different types of software.
“Interactive software application” is a hell of a lot broader than “video game.”
That's a pretty important distinction, and honestly, it makes the whole thing considerably worse in my book.

Have had this same headache and light sensitivity for a week and a half; today is worse. See ya all later in the day. Naptime calls.
