Statement from the FBI on the situation in New Orleans.
ALT This morning, an individual drove a car into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing a number of people and injuring dozens of others. The subject then engaged with local law enforcement and is now deceased. The FBI is the lead investigative agency, and we are working with our partners to investigate this as an act of terrorism.

I’ve spoken with Gov. Moore and Mayor Scott to offer USDOT’s support following the vessel strike and collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge. Rescue efforts remain underway and drivers in the Baltimore area should follow local responder guidance on detours and response.

The crew of the ship that collided with Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing it to collapse, is still on board according to the latest information, Baltimore’s fire chief says.
Sonar has also detected vehicles in the river, he said, but the number is not yet known.
