We opened the doors to the new IAEA Visitor Centre in Seibersdorf, Austria today! The inauguration ceremony took place on the sidelines of #IAEAGC. IAEA Director General @rafaelmgrossi was joined by Austrian Ambassador Gabriella Sellner as well as those of other countries, and representatives from Austrian academia. The centre was funded by the United States. Discover this first-of-its-kind space where you can learn about the IAEA’s mission and the safe, secure and peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology in addressing global challenges: atoms.iaea.org/3KsydIg

Are you attending the #IAEAGC #ScientificForum next week? Bring two 500ml water bottles from your home country and help us grow the IAEA Bottled Water Project! IAEA scientists use nuclear techniques to trace the origins of bottled water around the world and study plastic bottles as part of our #NUTECplastics initiative. The project will be available on display at the Coffee Corner in the C Building, 4th floor. 💧atoms.iaea.org/SciFoAtomsFor…

Time is of the essence when it comes to climate change. So it makes sense to wonder "how long it takes to build an NPP?" when hearing that nuclear is a climate change solution. Check out this week's #JustAsk to find out! #Atoms4Climate
How long does it take to build a nuclear power plant? It’s not overnight — but it’s worth the wait. #Atoms4Climate #JustAsk

The people have spoken and the @iaeaorg is listening! First up, "Why do we need nuclear energy if renewables are an option?". Because they can't do the job alone. #JustAsk #Atoms4Climate
❓ You asked, we listened! Up first: Why do we need nuclear energy if renewables are an option? Here’s what you need to know about how nuclear fills the gap. #Atoms4Climate #JustAsk

This network holds the 🌍's largest and most comprehensive collection of isotope data on water from our atmosphere. Scientists and policymakers use its data to help them understand and protect the world's vital water resources. atoms.iaea.org/4iRyQXZ

The energy transition requires greater investment in nuclear if we are to achieve net-zero. Nuclear has the capacity to support renewables, when need be, while emitting minimal CO2. How minimal? Between 5.1-6.4 g/kWh(e) over a plant's lifetime. That's >100 times lower than coal!
With electricity demand in developing countries expected to more than double by 2030, we have launched a new partnership with the @WorldBank to support the safe, secure and responsible use of nuclear energy for their clean energy future. atoms.iaea.org/4kaRlXK

Can someone explain to me why California's state Senate is suddenly submitting legislation that specifically targets their staffers? 🧵

Both Senators have plausible deniability for their bills being retaliation against staffers' efforts to unionize. However, it is hard to deny that, at least for SB-573, its submission doesn't have a slight tone of malice towards capitol staffers. politico.com/newsletters/cal…

In short, it seems to be a systematic breakdown of power for an employer to decide the legal opportunity for their employees to unionize, where they can work after moving on, and what volunteer activities they can do outside of work. Odd way to suppress workers' rights.
