🚨🇨🇦 THIS IS NOT A THIRD-WORLD COUNTRY. THIS IS TORONTO, CANADA. These are pictures of the Gardiner Expressway, right in the heart of Canada’s largest city. Look at the concrete. The cracks. The deterioration. The patchwork. Millions of Canadians travel on infrastructure like this every day. We somehow find billions for international commitments, grand announcements, political pet projects and endless promises to build a better tomorrow. But what about maintaining the country we already built? Canada is a G7 nation. Toronto is its financial capital. Yet ordinary Canadians are left looking at infrastructure that raises serious questions about maintenance and public priorities. And the irony? We pay income taxes. Property taxes. Sales taxes. Fuel taxes. And taxes on practically everything else. HOW MUCH MORE MUST CANADIANS PAY BEFORE BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE BECOMES A PRIORITY? A country doesn’t become prosperous by announcing billion-dollar projects while neglecting what previous generations built. You can’t build the future if you can’t maintain the present. Welcome to Canada. Where the announcements are always brand new, but the concrete tells a different story. 🇨🇦

I wonder why, after nearly two centuries of playgrounds and parks, such a bylaw is suddenly necessary.
Toronto is officially banning childless adults from playgrounds.

‼️HERE WE GO -- US Treasury's Department Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated eight money services businesses based in CANADA that ENABLE the Iranian regime. "Canada is home to hundreds of money services businesses that enable the movement of funds into and out of Iran" These Ontario and British Columbia businesses converted Iranian rials into digital assets, moving funds to sanctioned Iranian exchanges and IRGC-linked crypto addresses that help finance terrorism and human rights abuses. Several also laundered million and in some cases billion in drug proceeds for Ryan Wedding, the former Olympic snowboarder turned narcotrafficker who used bulk cash and crypto to move his fortune abroad before his January 2026 arrest. Secretary Scott Bessent declared Canada cannot remain a safe haven and vowed Treasury will hunt down Iran’s financial channels worldwide. The designations freeze U.S.-linked assets and ban transactions, coordinated with FinCEN, FINTRAC, and the DEA.

Elon Musk just wrote that it troubles him greatly that we don't yet see any sign of aliens. That's the Fermi paradox. The universe is 13.8 billion years old, with hundreds of billions of galaxies and billions of billions of potentially habitable planets. Statistically, life should be everywhere. A civilization just a few million years ahead of us would have had more than enough time to colonize the entire galaxy. And yet, radio silence. The only truly strange signal we've ever picked up, the famous Wow! signal from 1977, was never repeated. The same Elon also says there's a high probability we're living in a simulation. Put the two together. If we're in a simulation, we're in a game. A game has rules. And the first rule of any game is to keep playing. I think a lot of signals converge to tell us what those rules are. When we create, when we build, when we move humanity forward, we're happy. People who genuinely create value are almost always deeply fulfilled. That's not a coincidence. It's the game telling you you're on the right path. Exploring, conquering new territory, pushing a frontier: the reward is wired into us. Of course, this learning process has its failure modes, and the most obvious one is war. The same instinct for conquest, but aimed at other humans instead of the unknown. The moment it involves killing people, you've misread the rules. Because the real goal of the game is the cosmos. And we may be on a map with no other life on it. Everything is left to discover, everything is left to build. Now look at what happens to those who fight the game. Degrowth, stagnation, technocracy that wants to freeze everything in place: it makes people miserable, and over time it drives them mad. You can see it everywhere zero-sum games take over. When the pie stops growing, all that's left is fighting over the slices, and people behave terribly. So there's a good chance we're inside a video game. And the goal is to go discover the universe, find new horizons, go see what's out there. That's exactly SpaceX's mission: making humanity a multiplanetary species. And maybe that's why Elon is the richest man in the world today. He's the man who plays the hardest. So play.

In December 1960 the most famous writer in the world was checked into the Mayo Clinic under his own doctor's name, officially for his blood pressure, and given up to fifteen rounds of electric shock to the brain, and when he came out he could no longer write a sentence, and six months later he was dead. Ernest Hemingway was 61. He had the Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer, the houses in Cuba and Idaho, and a head that had been battered more times than anyone could count. He had been blown up by a mortar in Italy in 1918, split his skull open in a London car crash in 1944, been thrown from a motorcycle by a shell in France the same year, and walked away from two plane crashes in Africa on consecutive days in 1954, the second leaving fluid leaking from his skull. He drank enormously. By 1960 he was paranoid, convinced the FBI was following him, unable to finish the Paris memoir he had nearly completed. The Mayo psychiatrist, Howard Rome, treated it as depression and gave him the treatment of the day. Electroconvulsive therapy was the modern answer in 1960, quicker than analysis and tidier than the lobotomy it had replaced. Hemingway went home to Ketchum in January. He was worse. Asked to write a single line for a presentation volume for the new President Kennedy, he sat at his desk for a week, could not do it, and wept that it just won't come anymore. In April his wife Mary found him in a state that terrified her, and he was flown back to Rochester for another course of shocks. At the Mayo he told his friend A.E. Hotchner what the treatment had done. His memory was his capital, he said, the thing his whole trade was built on, and they had wiped it and put him out of business. "It was a brilliant cure but we lost the patient." The clinic discharged him at the end of June as improved. On the morning of 2 July 1961, at home in Ketchum, he took his own life. The psychiatrist who has studied his head injuries most closely, Andrew Farah, argues that the man in Rome's office was not simply depressed but living in a brain wrecked by a lifetime of concussions and drink, and that electricity was the last thing it needed. The FBI files released in the 1980s showed he really had been watched for years, which is a hard way to learn that a patient's paranoia was partly a report. None of that got a hearing in 1960. The diagnosis was in the textbook, the treatment was in the textbook, and the patient's complaint that it was taking his mind was in the textbook too, listed as a side effect, expected and temporary. They treated the most observant man in American letters for being wrong about what he was seeing, and the last thing he saw clearly was what they had done to him.

Health Canada does not test vaccines for safety or efficacy. It is important to understand that Health Canada does not do any testing of drugs, including vaccines, when determining whether to approve a drug for human use. All testing is done by the pharmaceutical company with a financial interest in having the drug approved by Health Canada. The Covid-19 vaccines were exempted from the regular drug approval test. Rather, a substitute approval test was used. Under this substituted test: 1. safety did not need to be proven; 2. efficacy did not need to be proven, and 3. that the benefits of the vaccine outweighed the risks of the vaccine did not need to be proven. If the test was met, Health Canada was legally obligated to authorize the vaccine for human use. The test Covid-19 vaccines were approved under is: The Minister must issue an authorization in respect of a COVID-19 drug if the following requirements are met: - the Minister has sufficient evidence to support the conclusion that the benefits associated with the drug outweigh the risks, having regard to the uncertainties relating to the benefits and risks and the necessity of addressing the urgent public health need related to COVID-19. The test only requires the pharmaceutical company seeking approval, to make an argument that the Minister does not need to agree with. The wording is not: - the Minister has sufficient evidence to conclude (which would require the Minister to be convinced), or - the Minister has concluded (which would require the Minister to be convinced). Rather the wording is: - the Minister has sufficient evidence to support the conclusion (not the Minister’s conclusion). This wording does not require the Minister (Health Canada) to conclude anything. Rather there only needs to be evidence to support a conclusion that the Minister is not making. Ron Baron asked Elon Musk how many CEOs live on site in an Airstream and work hands-on with everyone. MUSK: “Airstreams are actually pretty nice... It’s parked right next to the power plant.” “We built this power plant that’s producing over a gigawatt... in about a year, as opposed to normally about five years.” “There is no upstairs.” He walks the entire site up to five times a day. He’s pulled power cables “the size of an anaconda,” run fiber, wired switches, and worked on the power plant software. “I try to do at least a little bit of everything, so that I’m not numb to the pain of the people who are actually doing it.” “It’s not as though I’m sitting in an office and somebody has to come to me. I’m walking the floor, asking them questions actively.” There’s a reason SpaceX is winning the compute race.

Captain Ken Kunkel, pictured on the left, has been identified as the cadet supervisor who was the victim of an aggravated assault on November 1st. Kunkel is currently in the hospital with a spinal injury. Capt. Ken Kunkle is the Commanding Officer of the 826 Gryphon Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, based in Binbrook, Ontario. Estela Quintanilla, pictured on the right, as well as two unidentified male minors, were the alleged perpetrators of the violent attack. Quintanilla did not know any of the other parties in the altercation. Quintanilla and a 12-year-old male are facing charges of aggravated assault. The 11-year-old male cannot be charged because under Section 13 of the Criminal Code of Canada, the minimum age of criminal responsibility is 12 years old. Leading up to the assault, two cadets were doing a poppy drive on Sunday at a mall when the two unidentified males assaulted them by honking a compressed air horn in their ears and faces. Air horns can easily produce sounds exceeding 120 decibels. Close-proximity exposure can cause immediate and permanent hearing loss or eardrum trauma. A compressed air horn can be legally classified as a weapon if it is used to intimidate or assault someone. The cadets reported what had happened to their supervisor, Capt. Kunkel. Hearing what happened, Capt. Kunkel responded and followed the males into a nearby Mandarin restaurant to prevent the alleged male aggressors from fleeing before police could arrive. According to the Hamilton Spectator, "A struggle then ensued over one of the youths' backpacks as the commander tried to keep them from fleeing until officers arrived, according to Const. Trevor McKenna. The boys, in turn, 'snatched' his keys and lanyard." At this point, Quintanilla is alleged to have tripped Capt. Kunkel. As he lay defenseless on the ground, the male aggressors reportedly began to punch Capt. Kunkel and stomp on his head. All parties involved in the aggravated assault then fled the scene of their crime. The alleged male aggressors were found nearby at another establishment, where they were causing a disruption. They were throwing around objects inside a retail store. The police found them when they responded to a call about their criminal conduct in the store. It is unknown whether or not the cadets sustained injuries in the initial alleged compressed air horn assault. Quintanilla could not be reached for comment. Further reporting will be done about this story this evening, streaming live tonight at 7 PM EST. A close family friend has set up a fund to assist Ken Kunkel and his family with his very serious injuries. 🔗 to the fundraiser and the Hamilton Spectator article in the comments.
