A real-time combat VFX sequence created in Unreal Engine 5, featuring missile impacts, explosions, smoke, sparks, debris, and aftermath effects.
The main fire and smoke elements were simulated in EmberGen and exported as custom flipbooks, then assembled and directed in Niagara.
Anyone out there waiting for LiquiGen on MacOS? Did we mention yet that LiquiGen for MacOS comes out tomorrow? ;)

Another epic shot rendered in #blender3d and fire smokes simulated with @JangaFX #embergen!
This one takes only 3-4 hours to render, because rendering an emmisive volumetrics is faster and the smokes light bounce is not that much

More compressible solver testing in EG2. Note I only have very basic primitive emission sources to play with, no particles & debris yet.
Whether you hate or love, or reject or embrace AI, where do you see the future of artistry in games, or even the future of game development as a whole going? We're living in a pretty tumultuous time for artists and game developers and I'm curious, not what you *want* to happen, but what you think is actually going to happen. What does game dev look like at the professional level in 2-3 years? Does it look the same? Is everything MCP/AI assisted? Based on your prediction, are you happy or sad?

Laid off from a studio? Here's free software to build your next reel with.
Past GDU guest Nick Seavert (@nickseavert) runs JangaFX, and its Layoff Assistance Program gives laid-off artists free licenses to EmberGen, LiquiGen, IlluGen and GeoGen for up to 6 months.
EmberGen sims fire, smoke and explosions in real time on your GPU and exports game-ready flipbooks, VDBs, normal maps and motion vectors. LiquiGen does liquids, GeoGen does terrain.
Non-commercial, portfolio use only. Requests are reviewed, so approval isn't guaranteed. Their page says 295 artists helped so far.
