Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating across Colorado and around the world!
The Festival of Lights is a beautiful celebration of hope, renewal, family, and the triumph of light over darkness. As families and communities come together to light diyas, share meals, and celebrate cherished traditions, we’re reminded of the many cultures and communities that make Colorado such a vibrant place to call home.
May this Diwali bring you and your loved ones joy, prosperity, peace, and plenty of light in the year ahead. शुभ दीपावली! Happy Diwali!

🚨 New Mexico will become the 32nd state to opt in to federal education freedom tax credit program, per decision by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.
The program will allow taxpayers to obtain a tax credit for donating to scholarship groups.

A big win for the children of New Mexico, our friend and neighbor (even if their Hatch chile isn’t as good as our Pueblo Chile)
New Mexico is officially in! Thank you, @GovMLG for opting into the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit.
Gov. Lujan Grisham just unlocked hundreds of millions a year for tutoring, after-school and summer learning for New Mexico students and families.
Colorado native and Fairview High School graduate Jessica Watkins voted from space today. If she can vote from the International Space Station 250 miles above us, surely you can vote from down the street. Voting is out of this world!

I hosted a focus group last night of Americans who voted for President Trump in 2024… But are voting for Democrats in 2026.
Here is what they'd tell POTUS if he were watching: "I expected you to #DrainTheSwamp, not become one of the biggest swamp monsters ever."
I spoke more with @ScarboroughNow this morning on Election Day.

He’s right to oppose 87.
I’d probably be fine with the amendment if it only applied to individuals, but the boosters keep hiding the ball that it applies to corporate taxes as well.
It will definitely have an impact on jobs numbers in the medium/long term as Colorado becomes significantly less competitive in attracting business investment.

I am so saddened by the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart, an amazing actor and human. His roles as Captain Picard and as Professor X truly helped inspire my own leadership journey along with so many others. Loving and nurturing the good in everyone wasn’t just written into those roles, but Sir Patrick Stewart performances truly gave them life and meaning. When we dream of a fairer, more just, and more united world, it’s only our actions that can “make it so.”

Public art is for everyone, and it helps tell our story and reminds us where we’ve been.
In Fort Collins, we celebrated Colorado’s 150th anniversary and America’s 250th with art that honors our state’s history, communities, and people.
From CSU’s beginnings to the contributions of trailblazers who helped open doors to education for everyone, these pieces remind us that Colorado’s story belongs to all of us. I hope they inspire the next generation to see themselves in our history and help shape our future.
Thank you to the artists, @ColoradoStateU, and the community partners who brought these stories to life.

Murphy Robinson: "Amendment 87’s tax increase would take Colorado from one of the lower-tax states in the country to the ninth-highest top rate, in the same company as California, New York and New Jersey. This will directly impact Colorado’s ability to attract investment, create jobs and retain talent." #copolitics

I don’t post much about #Colorado politics because I have very few, if any, Colorado followers. I’m making an exception because this issue is common across the country.
Amendment 87 is a ballot measure to drastically increase state income tax. If it passes, Colorado will dive even deeper into economic dysfunction as successful individuals and small and medium sized businesses leave or avoid the state.
As the article points out, many or most of the businesses that would be impacted by A87 don’t pocket the profits, but reinvest them into the business to hire more employees and create more wealth in the state.
Colorado has already gone from being in the top ten most business friendly states to 25th. A87 would push Colorado down to near the bottom.

No on 87; it will hurt state’s businesses, economy denvergazette.com/2026/10/27…
The non-partisan tax foundation found that high income taxes hurt growth. It’s critical that Colorado voters reject Amendment 87 which would make Colorado the 9th highest taxed state. It’s not to late to vote No on amendment 87
States with no individual income tax (Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Nevada, and others) consistently rank among the strongest gainers, while states with the highest top rates (California at 13.3 percent, New York at 10.9 percent, and New Jersey at 10.75 percent) dominate the list of largest losers.

Politics is the art of the possible, and the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit gives governors a remarkably simple way to expand educational opportunity.
As Peter Murphy of @Invest_InEd explains in @WashTimes, Democratic governors @jaredpolis and @GovKathyHochul are demonstrating how the FSTC can transcend traditional political divides.
With the federal framework already in place, governors can open the door to new, privately funded scholarships for public and private school students simply by opting in.
Murphy highlights Polis's remarks at a @Kennedy_School conference about using these scholarships for tutoring and additional instruction.
Major public policy progress doesn't always require years of legislative battles. Sometimes the opportunity is already there just waiting for someone to act.

This is sick stuff. Amy Acton's enemies are trotting out her estranged and allegedly abusive mother to malign her.
If anything, I feel more sympathetic to Amy Acton after watching this. I suspect I'm not alone!
BOMBSHELL: Amy Acton’s own MOTHER just dropped a devastating ad warning Ohio NOT to elect her daughter.
She calls Amy a habitual liar who “needs help” and is totally unfit for governor.
When your own mother begs voters to stay away, it’s OVER.
Must watch! 👇
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Acton’s stepfather abused her from age 9 to 12 and was criminally charged, and the family lived in a tent in winter. Her brother confirms they were removed from their mother’s custody. Acton’s stayed married to the stepfather until he died.

I was shocked, and pleased, to learn that the Denver Post Editorial Board is recommending a no vote on Amendment 87.
To put it simply, they fear 87 will do more harm than good for Colorado.
