Revealing comment from #Steelers LB Elandon Roberts. Noticed on film Saints QB Tyler Shough wasn't making checks himself - HC Kellen Moore relayed them in. So Steelers defense stayed static until < 15 seconds when playcallers can't talk to QB. Two examples of it below. First one, Patrick Queen runs into A-gap w/ 14 seconds and Saints run right into him. Trade: Colts are sending three-time Pro-Bowl DT DeForest Buckner back to the 49ers, the team that made him a 2016 first-round pick before dealing him to Indianapolis in 2020, per me and @rapsheet. Now Buckner returns to San Francisco, fortifying the 49ers defensive line.

Bengals are very much in line to receive a 2027 3rd rd comp. pick for losing Trey Hendrickson in FA. If the right opportunity presents itself, CIN should be willing to part with a 3rd (perhaps also coupled with a late round pick-swap) to trade for a player.

Seattle is poised to have five compensatory picks in 2027 from the free-agent losses of Boye Mafe, Kenneth Walker, Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant. They’ll also receive a third-round pick after executive Nolan Teasley became Minnesota’s GM. That flexibility has allowed Seattle to be aggressive in the trade market, and now they land Quenton Nelson.

Replying to @MrKCincy @slimschadler
I’ve said it before, but maybe all this means we see Taco getting reps as the second safety Good run defender for a CB. Very athletic for a safety, huge with a big wingspan, can cover TEs Wouldn’t ask him to do it full time, but in certain packages/situations

#Bengals EDGE Boye Mafe ranks in the top 10 in pass-rush *and* run-defense grade among EDGEs this season Wrote about Mafe’s huge day against the Ravens — and how he’s providing Cincy with amazing returns already pff.com/news/bengals-edge-ru…

Bengals edge rusher Boye Mafe proving to be difference-maker on revamped defense

The Bengals paid edge defender Boye Mafe a handsome contract in free agency, and performances like Week 7 against the Ravens reinforce their commitment.

Al Golden has evolved Cincinnati’s defense by pairing heavy Cover 1 usage with a unique pivot to rotational split-field shells (Cover 6/8). In Base, Golden calls Cover 6 (QQH) with a boundary "Fist" check (2-Man) to wall the run, layer the intermediate, and bracket early-down play-action shots. In Nickel, he flips to Cover 8 (HQQ) to roll Cover 2 over the Nickel (D. Hill), capping the Slot while the backside Safety plays "poach." The Bengals were dead last in Slot DVOA in '25. Structure protects the DBs; rotation kills the early down play-action. My breakdown on Al Golden’s evolution is only on MatchQuarters: matchquarters.com/p/al-golde… --
