Updated Inside Day Scanner
Starting today I’m changing how I scan for Inside Days.
Previously I pulled a pretty broad list of names that printed an Inside Day and had decent volume. It caught a lot of recognizable tickers, but quality and actual options tradability varied a lot from day to day.
Going forward the filter is tighter, more deliberate, and quicker to pull.
I’m now focusing only on liquid, options-friendly names that real options traders actually trade — ones with consistent average options volume and open interest. Think AVGO, AMD, CRWD, SNOW, HOOD, COIN, MRVL and similar. Low-liquidity or random names are out.
Ranking is based on three things, in order:
1. Options liquidity
2. How tight the range is
3. Whether there’s clear trend context
The list will stay short on purpose. I’ll only post the highest-quality setups instead of every Inside Day that shows up.
10/29 | Notable Inside Days
$TSLA $AMD $ABNB $ORCL $ETSY $CBRS $BE
Standout setups
* $ORCL cooled off after the investor day jump. Held the bulk of that move without giving it all back.
* $ETSY stayed inside after dropping the earnings numbers yesterday. Still sitting above where that report opened.
* $CBRS printed a tight range right off the recent low. Not much else going on with it.
Quick long & short idea candidates
* Long: $TSLA break of the ID high (~407). PTs 415 / 428.
And there's the reason for $DASH double inside day 🤷♂️
Will be volatile and challenging to play now so be careful.
Today we’re announcing @DoorDash’s intent to acquire @Instacart.
Both DoorDash and Instacart share a mission to help local businesses succeed. Together, we could give grocers and retailers of every size the best of both in one service: DoorDash's delivery network and Instacart’s grocery and fulfillment technology, along with the advertising and AI tools each company has built.
Until closing, DoorDash and Instacart will keep operating as separate, independent companies.

10/28 | Notable Inside Days
$AAPL $XOM $CVX $COP $QCOM $UPS $DASH $SHOP $FSLR $DELL
Standout setups
* $DASH: Consecutive inside day (x2) after the Instacart acquisition headlines. Compression under the recent bounce.
* $UPS: Inside day after the strong 10/27 bounce on earnings reaction and data-center revenue commentary. Holding well above the prior low.
* $DELL: Inside day after the sharp 10/27 upside reversal. Sitting just under the prior high.
* $XOM $CVX $COP: Energy names coiling ahead of Friday earnings (XOM/CVX). Oil has been firm; group is digesting recent strength.
* $AAPL: Clean inside day just under the recent highs.
Quick long & short idea candidates
* Long: $DASH break of 173.80. PT 175, 178.53
* Short: $DASH loss of 166.84, target 163.68, 160
$TSLA also looking great with a strong break of daily TL resistances. ATH's loading?
Levels removes as they're a bit messy on this chart.
$QQQ forming an interesting TL resistance with a few bear gaps above. Watch for a break this week with multiple earnings to impact
10/27 | Notable Inside Days
$HD $W $COIN $MSTR $DASH $DDOG
Standout setups
- $COIN $MSTR: Crypto proxies coiling cleanly after Monday’s pressure, higher lows inside the prior bar. Classic pause while BTC settles.
- $DASH: Contained the wide range from the Instacart-talks drop on lighter volume. Digestion of a catalyst move.
- $HD $DDOG: Quiet volatility contraction. HD still working off its multi-week bounce; $DDOG holding the recent recovery higher low ahead of its print.
- $W: Low-volume containment with no catalyst.
Quick long & short idea candidates
- Long: $DDOG — Inside day after the sharp recovery from the mid-250s, holding above the prior-day low and coiling just under the recent highs. Recent upgrades and the Nov 4 earnings catalyst give it a cleaner structure and higher-conviction setup than the others. Watch for a hold above the inside-day low for continuation toward the $280–$300 area.
No short candidates.
10/26 | Notable Inside Days
$NOW $SNDK $CBRS $COP $WMT $LLY $AFRM $SLB $FCX $OXY $F $PCG $LCID $APA $MP $EXC $CCI $LUMN $JOBY $EOSE
Standout setups
* $NOW: Quiet hold into Wednesday’s print. The stock has been grinding higher on the AI workflow narrative and is now coiling ahead of the call—volume dried up today.
* $SLB: Digesting Friday’s post-earnings pop. The beat and Middle East recovery comments got the group moving; today’s inside is pure containment after that gap.
* $SNDK: Memory complex is still under pressure from the CXMT supply worries and broader AI spending doubts. This is just another day of digestion near the lows of the recent flush.
* $CBRS: Sitting right on the lows of the entire post-IPO unwind. No real bounce yet—any break lower here has room.
Quick long & short idea candidates
* Long: $NOW break of the ID high. Relative strength vs software into the print.
* Short: $CBRS break of the ID low. Near the lows of the move with no reclaim.
10/23 | Notable Inside Days
$AMD $MU $MRVL $ARM $SPCX $NKE $CVS $PYPL $DIS $UPS $CRWV
Standout setups
- $AMD: Thursday flushed 8% on the chip supply/AI spending warnings. Cleanest relative strength of semis.
- $MU: Taiwan union rejected the profit-sharing offer with talks pushed to the 27th; that overhang remains live on any break lower.
- $MRVL: New $3B revolving credit facility is noise; just post-flush containment.
- $ARM: Tight range right on the prior low.
- $SPCX: Consolidation after first earnings print (positive). Some separation between this and AI-dependent plays due to starlink
- $CRWV: Inside after the 10% drop. Sitting near the lows of the move with no reclaim. Will be interesting to watch this week
Quick long & short idea candidates
- Long: $AMD break of the ID high (~524). PTs 530 / 545.
- Short: $MU break of the ID low (~859). PTs 849 / 830.
10/22 | Notable Inside Days
$EBAY
Standout setups
- $EBAY: Inside day after yesterday’s push. Previous day H 123.75 / L 119.22. Today H 123.03 / L 120.37. Range contracted inside the prior bar while the broader tape expanded lower on the selloff in indexes and tech. Holding near the upper half of the ID range into the close.
Quick long & short idea candidates
- Long: $EBAY break of the ID high (~123.03). PTs 123.75 / 124.59. Coiling near recent highs after the prior range, with earnings later this week.
- Short: $EBAY break of the ID low (~120.37). PTs 119.22 / 118.00. Failure of the coil would open the prior low and the recent consolidation floor.
10/20 | Notable Inside Days
$PLTR $KO
Standout setups
- $PLTR (x2): Tight second consecutive inside day after Monday’s rebound from the Friday AI-software flush. Prior day range held on both sides; still one of the cleaner high-liquidity options names in the complex with no near-term earnings. Structure remains coiled between Friday’s low and Monday’s high.
- $KO: Quiet defensive inside day near recent highs. Large-cap consumer staple with solid options depth and no major catalyst this week; consolidating after the broader market’s volatility.
Highest conviction plays
- Long $PLTR : Second inside day after the Monday bounce keeps the range clean. Prefer a hold above the Monday high for continuation of the recovery from last week’s low; liquidity supports defined-risk options.
- Short $KO : Inside day near the recent high leaves limited upside room if the broader tape softens. Prefer a break of the inside-day low for a measured fade back toward prior support.
Standout setups
- $TSLA: Roadster reveal earlier in the week failed to hold any sustained bid as the broader AI/tech unwind hit; stock closed well off the session high. Earnings after the close Wednesday (Oct 21) will dictate the next leg on margins, FCF, and any robotaxi/Optimus commentary.
- $SMCI: New CFO appointment (Mark Long) was overshadowed by the AI hardware financing concerns that hit the whole complex. Heavy volume on the downside close; previous day range was taken out.
- $MSTR: MSCI index-rules chatter added a second layer of pressure on top of the BTC-linked and high-beta tech selloff. Still one of the more actively traded options names outside the mega-caps.
- $PLTR: Banking collaboration headline mid-week was ignored as software sold with the AI complex. Remains among the more liquid single-stock options vehicles for range-break plays.
- $ORCL: Continues to trade with the AI infrastructure financing theme; CDS spreads have been watched as a proxy for that risk. Inside day after the broader software pressure.
- $SPY / $QQQ / $IWM: Indexes printed tight or near-inside sessions after the week’s AI-led decline. QQQ absorbed the heaviest damage into Friday’s low; all three remain the cleanest vehicles for options given depth and tight spreads.
- $MSFT / $GOOGL: Both held up relatively better than the higher-beta AI names but still closed inside prior ranges. Neither reports until Oct 28 (after close), so near-term action is more about the broader tape than company-specific catalysts.
- $WMT: Second consecutive inside day as it consolidates near recent highs. Large-cap defensive with solid options liquidity; next major catalyst is mid-November earnings.
Inside Day Play Ideas
- Long $QQQ: Monday’s rebound reclaimed most of Friday’s damage on solid volume and breadth in the AI complex. Cleanest high-liquidity vehicle with no single-name earnings risk this week; prefer continuation above Monday’s high.
- Short $SMCI: Friday’s heavy-volume breakdown left it lagging the broader AI bounce on Monday. Financing overhang and failed reclaim of the prior range keep downside open if the bounce fades.
10/16 | Notable Inside Days
$MU $QCOM $ARM $SPCX $LITE $COIN $KO $WMT $LLY $PFE $EBAY $CRWV $CRCL $SNDK $BE $IBIT
Standout setups:
- $MU and $SNDK stayed inside previous day H/L after another heavy semiconductor session driven by China competition worries and the chip sector’s longest losing streak since 2008.
- $CRWV printed an inside day on elevated volume while debt and AI financing concerns kept the neocloud under pressure.
- $WMT held inside previous day H/L after the Deutsche Bank upgrade earlier in the week and continued defensive rotation into staples.
- $KO and $LLY also remained contained as consumer staples and healthcare led the flight from AI names.
Inside Day Plays:
- Long $WMT — clean inside day after the upgrade and defensive bid; watch for a hold above previous day low with room toward the recent highs if rotation continues.
- Short $CRWV — inside day after the sharp drop on financing fears; a break of previous day low keeps the downtrend intact given the elevated debt backdrop.
10/15 | Notable Inside Days
$SPOT
Standout setups
- $SPOT: Clean inside day after yesterday’s range. High stayed under the previous day high (534.62) and low held above the previous day low (513.26). Break of the ID high opens the previous day high. Break of the ID low reopens the previous day low.
Quick long & short idea candidates
- Long: $SPOT break of the ID high (~533.8). PTs 534.6 / 537.9. Tightest liquid name that fully coiled after the prior session.
- Short: $SPOT break of the ID low (~513.7). PTs 513.3 / 512.8. Higher low failed and reopens the previous day low.
UPDATE: $PYPL
PT met with fill of first bear gap. Only runners remain now after ~30%. Prems didn't move too dramatically and expect 56.96 start of next bear gap to be sizable resistance. If 58 comes will be all out. Managing remainder accordingly.
$PYPL looking good with a peekaboo on the daily. Setting up for a move higher to fill the bear gaps above. Small netflow divergence on Friday. Not too notable but confirms the chart. Already in calls a month or two out based on this chart.
10/14 | Notable Inside Days
$AAPL $UPS $UNH $SNDK $NOW
Standout setups
- $AAPL: Tight compression after yesterday’s smart-home launch and 52-week high. Held relative strength on an otherwise drawn-out, soft session while most of tech lagged.
- $UNH: Strong recovery after yesterday’s post-earnings fade. Reclaimed a large portion of the prior range on the bounce.
- $SNDK: Inside day after another sharp down move. Memory remains under pressure; this looks more like consolidation within the decline than a constructive setup.
Quick long & short idea candidates
- Long: $AAPL break of the ID high (~347). Relative strength + compression near the highs. Next levels ~352 / ~358 if it clears.
- Short: None. No high-confidence breakdown among the inside days.
10/13 | Notable Inside Days
$MSTR $COIN $ABNB $UBER $TWLO $EBAY $SHOP
Standout setups
- $MSTR $COIN: Crypto pair both inside after the prior session. MSTR parent H/L 158.40/150.84, today contained 156.20/150.93. COIN parent 184.23/176.80, today 183.00/178.60. Break of ID high targets prior high, break of ID low opens the parent low.
- $ABNB $UBER: Travel names inside. ABNB parent 167.45/162.55, today 165.92/162.72. UBER parent 71.81/70.04, today 71.63/70.44. Both held the prior low while failing the prior high.
- $EBAY $SHOP: E-comm pair inside after the prior expansion. EBAY parent 118.81/114.08, today 116.71/114.18. SHOP parent 180.88/172.94, today 179.21/173.81. Clean contained ranges.
- $TWLO: Software name inside with a wide parent. Parent 293.66/276.00, today 289.05/278.80. Compression after the recent swings.
Quick long & short idea candidates
- Long: $SHOP break of the ID high (~179.21). PTs 180.88 / 182.50. Contained after the prior expansion, clean level above.
- Short: $MSTR break of the ID low (~150.93). PTs 150.84 / 148.00. Crypto still heavy, failed to reclaim the prior high.
10/12 | Notable Inside Days
$SPY $IWM $NFLX $QCOM $ORCL $CVS $UNH $SPOT $CRCL $NET
Standout setups
- $ORCL compressed after the OpenAI revenue revision (~$50B run-rate) and ongoing AI-infrastructure financing questions; the director’s $3.5M buy didn’t stop the fade.
- $UNH coiled into tomorrow’s earnings with options pricing a ~6.6% move either way as managed-care recovery stays the narrative.
- $NFLX held the lower end of its recent range as 5% layoff chatter meets the Oct 20 report, with the stock still well below its 52-week high.
Inside Day Plays
- Long: $UNH above previous day high $387.52 into the earnings print, risk under the inside low $373.67; first target ~$403 (implied move), extension $410–415 on a clean beat.
- Short: $ORCL below previous day low $136.49 if AI-demand skepticism continues to weigh, risk above $142.90; first target $133.45–135.40, extension $130.40.

Weekend Look-Ahead | Sunday, October 11, 2026
September nonfarm payrolls rose just 29,000 and the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.2%, which pulled October FOMC hike odds well below 25% even after minutes from the September meeting showed most participants still viewed another increase as likely by year-end. The S&P 500 finished the week up 1.15% at 7811.54 after setting a record close on Tuesday, while the Dow gained 0.93% to 51654.95 and the Nasdaq added 0.64%. The 10-year yield held in a 5.24-5.31% range and closed near 5.24%. An FT report that OpenAI’s annualized revenue was closer to $50 billion than the roughly $70 billion figure circulating earlier hit $NVDA and other AI names on Thursday; they stabilized Friday after clarification on the accounting difference with Anthropic and a year-end target near $70 billion. WTI crude settled near $91.60 amid ongoing Iran-related swings.
What matters for the week ahead:
- Wednesday 8:30am — September CPI. A hotter print can push October FOMC hike odds higher and weigh on growth names with the 10-year still above 5%.
- Tuesday pre-market — $JPM, $GS, $WFC and $C open Q3 bank earnings. Guidance on net interest income, loan growth and credit quality will set the tone for financials and broader risk.
- Wednesday pre-market — $ASML reports with $BAC and $MS. Order trends matter for the AI complex after last week’s OpenAI revenue report.
- Thursday 8:30am — September PPI and retail sales. PPI adds to the inflation read ahead of the late-month FOMC while retail shows whether consumers are holding up.
