You're just severely out of touch with how rs3 is viewed by almost everyone externally. Not just osrs players, but wow, ff14, guild wars, eso, even former rs2/3 players that quit because of mtx and never played osrs. You touched on integrity, but you're downplaying it's severity & how it's perceived by everyone outside of the rs3 player base. This isn't just about the economy or highscores either. If you were a rs3 player from 2014-2025 you would understand there was a large portion of the player base at the time that had the gameplay loop of boss > buy bonds > buy mtx items from bonds > stockpile mtx items > offload all mtx items on different yearly events to fully level skills they didn't enjoy to max without ever interacting with them. But even then, the amount of free daily mtx, quest reward mtx, holiday mtx items handed out by Jagex to entice more mtx spending was egregious I wouldn't even care if they take away all world first on Reignited and grant them to everyone that got them on rs3 the first time. Because to me, I'm not wanting reignited for the chance to compete on highscores again, I want Reignited for a chance to play in a world where egregious mtx items like proteans, portables and death darts never existed and never will. Jagex has been trying to get players back for a decade. The rs3 community that has accepted the damage from mtx has tried to change the perception of how mtx is perceived by external players for years. Jagex removed mtx and started the RtR this year and still experienced over 8.5% decrease. It's because they didn't provide a place to play where the damage from mtx didn't exist. Ive stated this before, but if all roads lead to a predetermined merge of players/economy then Reignited will fail. That's not what we want or what we've been asking for. I would rather Jagex make Reignited a full separate game, similar to how osrs:rs3 are separate. Allow players to choose the game they want to play. The idea of Jagex forcing 2 split economies/mains on 1 world isn't going to work if they merge. - This now allows current rs3/osrs players to play under their main rsn without having to make a new account - no need to make new accounts The only reason rs3 players would still not want it to be it's own game mode is because they are afraid that it will actually work and be successful.
My thoughts on Reignited The main reason I don’t like Reignited is because it splits the community, segregating players from engaging with each other, preventing potential friendships and memories from forming. That’s with the hopeful assumption that one gamemode doesn’t just cannibalise the other. I would argue RuneScape was only a year away from growing again, especially with how STACKED the 2027 roadmap was. Keep in mind, the game is only 1 year into the Road to Restoration, where a short term dip was expected in exchange for a better future. • It took OSRS 2 years to grow again after its initial stagnant decline. • It took FFXIV 3 years to get players back after its disastrous launch. • It took Path of Exile 4 years to go from nothing to being one of the biggest ARPGs. These games prove that consistent, high quality updates that satisfy the core player base will naturally attract new players, and past controversies like MTX previously existing will be overlooked if the game is good enough. The main game currently has a lot of economical scarcities, with its players spread thin across the vast amount of content. This would mean that Reignited would need to have at the very least more players than the main game to have a functioning economy, which would likely kill the main game off, especially when considering that most new players would likely create their character in Reignited. On the other hand, If Reignited doesn’t have enough players, there will be severe cases of scarcity, causing unreasonable price ranges which would lead to unhealthy merching and monopolisation. Integrity isn't just all about MTX and P2W features, it's also about balance and the overall value of XP, which is what creates fulfilling grinds. Runescape is currently not in a great place in that regard, with the Road to Restoration still in progress, notably when considering how overpowered AFKing is right now. For someone whose main issue with Runescape is integrity, this realisation alone could very likely be a deal breaker. I'm not arbitrarily attached to my achievements, I’m attached to the memories they represent. I can look at my Woodcutting level and remember the 99 party I threw with my first few friends back in 2006, and I can look at my Red Halloween Mask, knowing how much time I spent making money just to get my hands on it, and how incredibly giddy I felt when that trade screen finally got accepted. Social media is not a reliable indicator of how successful a launch will be. We've seen plenty of single player games generate a lot of positivity prior to its release with barely any actual players on launch. This usually happens because people like the idea of something more than they're willing to actually play it, which can mislead creators during development. The existing community's voices in contrast feel far more reliable about what will happen in reality, as we saw with the mass exodus during Hero Pass. I don’t like the certainty of some people suggesting that the game would be shut down if not for the potential success of Reginited. It’s definitely a possibility but let’s not pretend that Jagex have never made out of touch monetary promotions that were clearly not necessary. If players knew that the game would die without Reignited and there was truly no alternative, of course most players would sacrifice their accounts, but most don’t trust that’s the case and there’s precedent for that skepticism. If they need to boost their numbers and engagement rate for the quarterly review, I think a more healthy approach would’ve been to introduce the games first ever official free week or weekend, letting players experience the full game without the need for membership. That's one of the most common reasons I hear from people who are interested in the game but never try it and I’m sure a decent chunk of those free players will convert into long term members after they get a taste of the game. From a business perspective, Reignited could be a great way to surge revenue in the short term. However, this action represents a massive risk, and it comes at the cost of undermining veteran players who have stuck with the game through thick and thin after Jagex has done so well to regain their trust in the past year with the Road to Restoration and great updates. Unfortunately, I think this is yet another case of misleading expectation as these are the quotes I could find related to this announcement over the past 3 months of them teasing it. • We’re planning something • We have greater ambitions • Put us firmly back on the map • It’s the ultimate reason to welcome back old and new friends • We’ll be respecting the old guard • We have a desire to see home worlds thriving • It will unlock Runescape’s true potential That kind of hype would’ve perfectly fit the announcement of plugins but since that was already known, I thought the only possible update that it could be was improving the F2P experience and expanding its accessible content. This announcement feels like Pandora’s box has been opened, if they walk it back, the potential new players Reignited could've attracted may never give the game a real shot, with their trust and excitement crushed. If they follow through with the announcement, veteran players will feel neglected, their time wasted, and their achievements devalued. Another likely result would be that Reignited eventually gets merged with the main game if it’s not successful, which might not be great for the long term reputation of the game. My suggestion would be giving Reignited players their own exclusive Highscores and their own Grand Exchange with the option of merging down the road if the economy isn’t doing well. However, letting players interact and play with each other is a core part of the essence of an MMORPG, even if it means compromising a bit on integrity. I might make this into a video because holy yap!

If reunited ends up happening will bonds, radiant stars, alting/boosting and swapping be a thing? How can it be a fresh, fair and competitive restart if any of these are just gonna be a thing anyways? We need a clear statement on those and maybe some others I may be missing

If @RuneScape Reignited is supposed to be the clean competitive reset, why allow bonds while celebrating "World Firsts". Gp can buy a huge advantage, especially early on with supplies, gear etc.

When OSRS launched, quite a few players xfer’d gp from the main game or even accepted donations. I made a point of beating all the competition for first to max whilst also NOT doing any of the above. I had seen how much Suomi’s acceptance of donations had hurt people’s valuation of his achievements.

As a Rank 1 on the RuneScape hiscores, I’m perfectly okay with letting the hiscores be reset and letting a new generation of players arise. There’s no reason whatsoever to have stale hiscores for decades. It’s not good for the game and I support having a new and fair competition.

You cant speak about integrity in a game as old as runescape. But one place it does hold integrity, is the leaderboards. Every new skill is protected for a long enough duration that the hardcore players fill up the top pages with max xp. And if thats not you already, then does it really matter anyways?

On this day 17 years ago, I reached 200M Fishing XP! The first screenshot was taken by @Jebrim. I am nowhere to be seen because I teleported away immediately to train the next skill, which was Agility.

Dear friends I wrapped up my time at Jagex in August, closing an incredible 23-year chapter helping to shape, design, and direct the MMORPG RuneScape. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I was given to grow into the man I am today. I've worked with some amazing people and we’ve made some genre defining games. I genuinely look forward to seeing what’s next for my digital home. To the community – I’ll miss you the most. You really are the best. Thanks for making me laugh, love, cry… and facepalm. It's been quite the ride. Don’t forget to feed Bob. Wooters Out Mod_Mark / Og/ Markdonalds

Zarfot got name dropped again. I certainly believe the comment about Eric’s productivity. rsplayers.fandom.com/wiki/Za…
Liam, I have been a professional programmer for 36 years. I spent 11 years at Google, where I ended up as a Staff Software Engineer, and now work at Anthropic. I've worked with some incredible people - you might have heard of Jaegeuk Kim or Ted Ts'o - and some ridiculously productive programmers - Eric Biggers, Jeff Sharkey and @jackinwarsaw come to mind as people who seemed to solve problems with code at a truly unearthly rate. At work, I am currently hitting levels of productivity that would put all of them to shame. Not just a rate of making code, but a rate of actually solving problems, that would have been unthinkable two years ago. And it's possible because Claude Code with Opus 4.5 is doing all the heavy lifting; I'm not doing much more than setting direction and reviewing the output. I often have three different sessions going at once, attacking three different aspects of the work I'm doing. Over the holidays I took a break from work Clauding, to do some home Clauding, writing in a few days from scratch a complicated webapp using disparate technologies I had no background in, that would have taken weeks prior to Claude. When I hit problems I just told Claude to debug them and that almost always worked. It also looks great, which is pleasing since not only have I zero CSS skill, I have zero design skill. I'm not out of a job quite yet; there are still some areas where I have better taste than it does, or better instincts. But when you talk about "AI's inability to code", this seems to me to reveal a total disconnect from reality. And this is why I'm urging you to ACTUALLY TRY IT, find out for yourself, and join the rest of us on this Earth.

We have frozen all child care payments to the state of Minnesota. You have probably read the serious allegations that the state of Minnesota has funneled millions of taxpayer dollars to fraudulent daycares across Minnesota over the past decade. Today we have taken three actions against the blatant fraud that appears to be rampant in Minnesota and across the country: 1. I have activated our defend the spend system for all ACF payments. Starting today, all ACF payments across America will require a justification and a receipt or photo evidence before we send money to a state. 2. Alex Adams and I have identified the individuals in @nickshirleyy's excellent work. I have demanded from @GovTimWalz a comprehensive audit of these centers. This includes attendance records, licenses, complaints, investigations, and inspections. 3. We have launched a dedicated fraud-reporting hotline and email address at childcare.gov/ Whether you are a parent, provider, or member of the general public, we want to hear from you. We have turned off the money spigot and we are finding the fraud. @ACFHHS @HHSGov
