Following fatal collisions and other serious incidents in recent months, I’m calling on the provincial government to conduct a proper safety assessment of the Highway 3 intersections at Wilhelm Road and Miller Road. 1/2

Hospitals should never have to choose between balancing their budgets and having the staff they need to care for Ontario patients. Health Minister Sylvia Jones needs to recognize what matters most: patient care.

On behalf of the Ontario NDP, I extend my deepest sympathies to Mac Bain’s family, loved ones, and the residents of North Bay, whom he represented with dedication.
Over the years, our caucus had many important discussions with Mac about strengthening our communities and delivering for the people we represent. May he rest in peace.
On behalf of AMO, I extend my deepest condolences to Mac Bain’s family, friends and colleagues. Mac dedicated decades of his life to municipal government, serving the City of North Bay and advocating for municipalities across Northern Ontario and the province. Through his leadership at FONOM and his work with AMO, Mac was a solid voice for municipal interests and the communities they serve. He will be remembered for his dedication to public service and his lasting contributions to municipal government in Ontario.
- AMO President Riley Brockington
This is exactly what we warned about in 2024 when the government rammed these changes through despite concerns about their impact.
The commissioner noted that "ServiceOntario is an entryway to the government of Ontario & an essential part of everyday life for Ontarians”. 2/3
Premier Ford and his Ministers continue to contract out public services without ensuring they meet their obligations under the French Language Services Act. 3/3

Regional chairs should be elected by the people they represent not appointed by the provincial government.
Now with “Strong Chair” powers these positions have unprecedented influence over municipal budgets & operations including property taxes & local services.
NEW: The Ford government is expected to name Conservative MP Scott Aitchison as Muskoka’s first “strong chair,” @readpolicorner has learned.
Aitchison announced late last month that he would leave federal politics to “explore new opportunities.”

Had an excellent meeting with Hotel-Dieu Shaver Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ceglie and their executive team to learn more about the hospital's expansion plans. The proposed expansion calls for an increase in inpatient capacity, expanded therapy areas, and modern spaces.

A new scandal every year, like clockwork. After the Greenbelt scheme, after the Skills Development Fund debacle, we're now learning about the Premier's office allegedly strong-arming the media into giving him favourable coverage.
These are Trumpian tactics for a Premier desperately clinging to power. Every Ontarian should be deeply concerned at the thought of Doug Ford leveraging his office to get the media to push his agenda.
Ontario can't afford more of Doug Ford's insider politics. An NDP government will clean up his corruption, and finally put the people of Ontario first.

After the flooding in St. Catharines & Niagara, many families spent weeks waiting for help. The province admits there is “room for improvement” but offers no clear plan. We need water/wastewater infrastructure & better programs to help municipalities mitigate flood damage.
If Ontario expects municipalities to Buy Ontario, why isn't this government leading by example?

When you only spend $140 million of your $5 billion tariff relief fund, you're not serious about making your plan work. Instead, we're seeing hard-working steelworkers get laid off, with more than 350 let go in Hamilton last week alone.
Doug Ford talks a big game when it comes to supporting Ontarians, but we've seen that he doesn't put his money where his mouth is. The Premier took a 21-week summer vacation instead of getting back to the legislature, and working with us to pass a plan that actually protects our workers and businesses.
When will Doug Ford finally put Ontarians first?

The number’s don’t lie: Doug Ford’s privatisation scheme is a failure.
Patients are waiting longer for cancer surgeries, MRIs, and more — while over $600M goes to private for profit clinics every year.
This isn't how things are supposed to be in Ontario. Your bank account balance should never determine what kind of care you get. We need to put that funding into our public hospitals, and get everyone the care they need, when they need it.

Devastating news out of Hamilton this afternoon with hundreds of layoffs at Stelco.
If you’ve gotten a layoff notice today, or you’re a steelworker in Ontario worried about your job, I want you to know that we are going to fight for you.
I’ve called on Doug Ford to get back to work and deliver a real tariff relief package that helps workers now. While he’s on vacation, Ontario workers are getting left behind.
WSIB is eliminating more than 600 jobs leaving just four staff assigned to Niagara. Today, I asked the Labour Minister a simple question: How does laying off workers and cutting the services injured workers depend on “Protect Ontario”?

Getting pencils and notebooks into classrooms isn’t rocket science, but Doug Ford still managed to make a mess.
Today, we called on the Auditor General to conduct a value-for-money audit into the multi-million dollar deal with Staples for classroom supplies.
