Hey @PeteHegseth - go to hell.

Hegseth on Afghanistan:
I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters.
It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there.
Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations.
In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Over 1100 non-American soldiers from 31 US-allied countries were killed fighting in Afghanistan, approximately 1/3 of the total combat deaths.

I’m saying this in a non partisan way but we need an election now. We are facing a potentially catastrophic trade war with our greatest ally and the finance minister and deputy prime minister summarily said she has no confidence in this government and its financial approach. The day before parliament rises there is no one to provide a fiscal update to the country. This is bonkers. @theJagmeetSingh time to step up and do the right thing for the country.

Canceling a newspaper subscription helps politicians who don’t want oversight, does nothing to hurt the billionaires who own the newspapers and make decisions with which you may disagree, and will result in fewer journalists trying to hold the powerful to account.

Worse off than what?
Not worse off fiscally: the PBO is clear that most households and all below the top quintile get back more in rebates than they pay in tax. Which is all that was ever promised.
So unlike most taxes, this tax is fully rebated, and then some. But, like all taxes, it still has an economic impact, and in that sense makes people “worse off.”
So: worse off than what? Worse off than if we did nothing on climate change? That option isn’t on the table — but in any case you’d have to look at the costs of climate change, at least so far as our failure to do anything affects it.
Worse off than other ways of cutting emissions? But that is demonstrably not true. Other methods are much costlier, and don’t come with a rebate. It’s just that the PBO didn’t bother to include those, which makes this study fairly pointless.
Corrected PBO report finds carbon tax leaves most Canadians worse off even as they get more back in rebates nationalpost.com/news/canada…

“Who? Who?”
He laughed it off.
With Lyles sidelined, the USA were disqualified today and Canada won gold.
