When I fly back to Albany, NY from the south, this is the view from NYC up the Hudson River. This is what Upstate NY looks like today. All for a form of energy that only converts at 12-15% of its annual potential. And when we need it most come this winter? Solar drops to 0% during snowstorms and the days after. This was documented on NYISO last winter. In the week after a blizzard at the end of January 2026, solar still sat at 0%. Why? The snow sat on the panels. ORES complexes are 1,000+ acres. No one is outside clearing snow off the panels. In fact, a complex as big as Fort Edward Solar only creates “2.5 full-time jobs,” which they’ve had to admit on the ORES docket. This is one of the biggest scams ever peddled on the American public. Foreign corporations are getting richer while we lose our habitat, wildlife, history, viewsheds, and property values.

If these generated reliable, cheap electricity, I wouldn’t have an argument to stand on. If your electric bill was half of what it was a year ago, I wouldn’t be posting on here. But these don’t generate reliable energy. They don’t generate energy when we need them most (during blizzards). And your electric bill is 3x what it was this time a year ago. Solar complexes need a disgusting amount of subsidies and credits to stand on since they generate intermittent, pathetic amounts of energy in our climate. Commercial solar converts at 12-15% of its annual potential in Upstate NY. That’s why it has to be insulated from an open market. And they insulate it with YOUR money (delivery charge, SBC charge, and taxes). The result? Our environment is being irreversibly mutilated. I took these photos of the latest complex going in to Fort Edward, New York, where the town government there has opened up the land and history to unchecked foreign corporate destruction. Our farmland, grasslands, DEC-designated habitats, water, and state-endangered and threatened species are for sale. New York State, corrupt town boards, and politicians paid by multinational solar and wind conglomerates are selling out our future.

More ecological detention centers in Upstate NY. This is @GovKathyHochul’s vision for the state. Not on my watch. More lawsuits to come. Hold the line, wherever you are. There are many things that can be done to stall these projects. They start locally. Attend all town board, planning board, and zoning board meetings immediately.

You just can’t make this stuff up anymore. No wonder people whistleblow temporary out-of-state solar labor as pulling guns on them at solar worksites around the state. Despicable. And these solar complexes are being set up on quiet country roads.

After ORES denied the Shepherd’s Run Solar permit in Copake, New York, over floodplain compliance issues, it was discovered that Fort Edward Solar is another ORES-permitted project with the same FEMA Zone A flood designation within its project footprint. We (American Land Rescue Fund) went ahead and had the FEMA floodplain map overlaid on the Fort Edward Solar project map. These materials are not compiled or released by the foreign solar corporations or New York State. Why? They don’t want you to see this map… it shows the insanity behind the siting of these solar complexes. On top of the fact an inverter will be located inside a floodplain, this solar complex is sited for one of the last grasslands of its kind (the Washington County Grasslands) throughout the entire Northeast. A significant amount of state-endangered and threatened birds, raptors, animals, and plants live here. Based off the precedent just set in Copake, NY, it’s time to relinquish the permit to Fort Edward Solar. I won’t stop until the grasslands are freed.
