I am very, *very* proud of this piece. It's an album review, but it's much bigger than that. I would be deeply honored if you gave it a read.
(See bio. Tryin' to bypass the al-go.)
Please support my friend, Pastor Josh Scott, one of the kindest Christians I've known. Every time he comes to the defense of a progressive person of faith, the snarling trolls & bots & Christian nationalists come out of the woodwork with an appetite for blood. It's evil.
Two things:
1) @ZachWLambert is a wonderful human and pastor who loves Jesus deeply.
2) Be the kind of Christian that charlatans like @howertonjosh call “heretics.”
Sunday's outing with the kids was a gem 💎9 delightful hours, 3 nice parks, 2 playgrounds, 1 gorgeous autumn hike, 2-on-1 football in a grassy field, & a stop at the mall to visit their favorite sports store & see 2 hours of football at Dave & Buster's.
Being a dad is the BEST.
That thing where you allude to having a low income & a "reverend" you don't know pops in to say you should really learn to budget, even though knowing how to budget is a central quality you cultivate, & literally the only reason your homeschooling family of 4 is not bankrupt.
"Far Country" by @Caspian is my favorite song of the year. Towering. Gorgeous. Heavy. Utterly magnificent.

It is what it is.
(Namely, a singular, un-gendered, third-person pronoun used to refer to non-human things or general situations.)
After work, the kids and I played a 90-minute 2-on-1 football game at the park near our house. My wife brought the kids water at one point & took over as all-time QB for a few drives. It was the golden hour. For a little while, life stood still. And all was right with the world.
I think I solid case can be made that "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)" / "Acrobat" / "Love is Blindness" is the most incredible 3-song run of U2's career.
But I know it would have stiff competition from that *other* one from 4 years earlier...
So wait. A live bomb from the ‘40s might still be live 85 years later? Can we use that technology on appliances? Think of the $$ we’d save. Let’s find those WWII designers & pick their brains. I guess they'd need to be 105-110... but maybe they figured out how to last longer too!
1st half:
69 Cavs
45 Sixers
2nd half:
69 Sixers
37 Cavs
In conclusion, the NBA is incredibly stupid and I am glad I don't watch regular-season games anymore. The Jekyll & Hyde scores above should never, under any circumstances, happen on the professional level.
I absolutely guarantee that all 4 of my Christian, GOP-voting grandparents (God rest their legendary souls) would have *loathed* Donald Trump.
