I worked hard this year to try and draw together some useful resources for Politics & Society teachers to use next year. I hope it’ll be of use!

My article in today's Irish Times looks at the unintended consequences of the book scheme for the physical books available for students and families. No more doodling, no more handing down books, fewer books in homes.

1/5 This is an example of the problem I have, the reduction of English to a formula. Here's a structure. Shakespeare always uses this structure, according to the SEC. The implication is that this is how English works, that all stories HAVE TO FOLLOW A STRUCTURE!

Here's an outline of the feedback I gave to the NCCA regarding the new Leaving Cert English Specification. There are probably loads that I missed but hopefully I got some things right. We should share our thoughts to better understand the issues involved. thevideotrolley.blogspot.com…

#DYK in the 1920s and 1930s, the O'Connell Tower doubled as a mooring platform for airships? Passengers were allowed to climb the tower while their airship refueled, although due to the noise disrupting funerals, and the opening of Dublin Airport, the practice soon ended.

The writing is on the wall for this government, even the Taoiseach can see that. They’re failing on so many fronts. In housing, health, climate - the list goes on and on and on. A new Fine Gael Taoiseach isn’t going to fix that. We need a new government. We need an election.
