Dario has written that we need to โpace the frontier,โ and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead.
You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric โ market share, revenue growth, model capability โ the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. Youโve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement.
I donโt see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible.
But stop pretending you need anyone elseโs permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropicโs investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who arenโt even at the frontier.
Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want.
Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sandersโ โshut it all down.โ China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well.
So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it.
If you do, youโll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you donโt, weโll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture โ or an election-season psyop.
Now that AI can solve millennial math problems, Elon predicting it will solve chess etc.
These AI megaclusters IS the quantum threat and it is improving daily.
How long will it take before it can bruteforce or hack any blockchain? ๐
Should we be concerned and why?
Unpopular opinion: AI's are the best future blockchain developers, and I dont think they care if we programmed it in Haskell, RUST, C or python.
It could probably just compile a brand new node in 10 minutes tbh..
BREAKING: CARDANO COO BREAKS SILENCE IN EXCITEMENT TO SEE CEO BEING BULLISH ON "FUTURE"
Now is the time to 'Just buy some $ADA Bro'
One day, the AI-overmind will tell humanity that #Cardano is awesome, and people will actually listen, because the AI-overmind is always right, and very smart, and cool and stuff.. ๐ค

AI agents need something to be accountable to.
That's where blockchain comes in.

We already changed a lot of the blockchain industry with our frontier tech of Cardano.
Look at ETH,
>Went PoS
>Went Liquid staking
>Want to do UTxO
etc.
Look at Sol,
>Going for Governance
Price aside, we already won and had a HUMONGOUS impact on the whole industry
This is the main reason most people lost faith in catalyst to begin with.
Respect to Danny for wanting to pivot and bringing next level of seriousness and maturity into the ecosystem.
Catalyst should not be a welfare mechanic, but an incubator for frontier blockchain tech๐ซก
thereโs a ton of people with ideas on here
arguably ton of โfakeโ ones aimed to please as well, adding even more complexity to the space
if any of this is going to work
we need to shift our attention towards people and projects who demonstrate credible bias towards quality execution with delicate sense of urgency
not just endless web3 promises and moonshots
hobby style approach isnโt going to cut it either
grant/resource farming and dependency needs to stop
if your project doesnโt demonstrate relevant traction or interest/usage - then the likes of catalyst will not support same projects/ideas in perpetuity without relevant future prospects anymore
why should they
weโll continue to close out legacy funds and do full reset in order to turn the page; pilot is the first initiation of such
keeping no strings attached lifelines makes no sense in any rational space thatโs looking to mature; it also highlights inverted incentives where teams would often abuse the program; catalyst has historically lacked teeth to defend itself more effectively for one reason or another
sure - improvements are always desirable and needed but the sense of entitlement is what bothers me the most; especially from those who keep talking but not delivering
iโm done with that
there was a time and place for such delicate approach in the early days but that time has now gone - time to grow up
time to face reality and reinvigorate that entrepreneurial spirit once more
not doing so would be too expansive and raise the bar on opportunity costs for alternate entrants/competitors
iโm tired of the space to be walking constantly tied up in circles, political hunger games, and wonโt be looking to waste energy into the abyss if it continues that way
if this is going to work - time to dramatically level up - i want to work and collaborate with A players, top league, world class, hungry and inspired, respectful and kind, best of the best - you name it - if the broader space wonโt support such outcomes or expect as much from incumbents and equally new entrants
then itโll be time to move on to places where it happens organically
letโs give it a proper shot first
not giving up just yet
๐ซก
I think its overdue to start replacing our whole #Cardano governance model with capable A.I models.
We all know it is going to happen sooner rather than later everywhere.
As a frontier chain model, perhaps we should leapfrog this @IOHK_Charles ๐ค

I don't actually work in the crypto industry. I have a full-time job doing Web2 cybersecurity.
I do the Cardano stuff purely for the love of the game, and because I want to see it succeed.
