In 2021, my friend Carole was diagnosed with terminal stage four cancer. A single parent with two kids, she had just turned 43. In 2017, she had watched her brother Chris die of the same cancer. He too was in his 40s.

This week marks a difficult time for me and for my family.
Thanksgiving will be 11 years since the death of my son, Jordan. The work I do to prevent gun violence is for him and for all those that have been lost. I hold his legacy in my heart every day.
